Its the "good buddy" night ride... we'll start at 7pm and do our usual 2 laps.
As always, post up if you can make it so we know to watch for you.
Oh, and what is the good buddy night ride you ask? I have no clue, but it sounded good. Maybe someone can come up with something good.... Why did I even say that? I'll let you figure it out... its right in front of ya.

Rumor has it the hoodies *might* make an appearance tonight. I will confirm later for sure. If this is the case I'd appreciate people being in the lot earlier than 7 so we don't impact the ride.
I'm not planning OC after the Thursday rides for a while... I really would like to get back to riding as the focus of the rides I post up. Its been a blast, but I think it might be at the point where its turning people away and/or causing too much drama (as someone else has put it). I think OC is fun and we should continue to do it from time to time but not as a permanent part of the group rides. Thats my own stick in the mud thought for the day.
... plus I think I'm starting to GAIN weight on these rides that used to be my way of getting in shape.

Yeah the World Beer Tour card.
It gets you free pizza on your B-day, gifts (I lost my orig. card and I keep forgetting to use it - so I'm just on deck of cards, bottle opener, etc).

Nothing is wrong with it. But lately it's become more the main focus of these rides and the riding part seems to not be the main focus. Go out....drink your beer....have fun. But let's not make that the main focus of these group rides.....group rides are about riding....not drinking beer.

Maybe you forgot, the weather has been pretty crappy and rides were canceled.
I consider our group rides a social event as well, if it was all about the riding, I'd just ride with one or two other people - so why not keep the social aspect of it?!

Everyone - don't take a few comments that have been made the wrong way. I don't plan to stop having a beer or two after each ride, and I'm not saying that OC type stuff won't happen. I'm just trying to balance it out a bit is all. I love the social aspect of these rides very much as well.. if I didn't I'd actually ride alone. I enjoy each and every person that comes out and have had a blast at every ride or event we've had so far.
Just trying to tip it back a little more toward riding and encourage more riders to come out. Don't want it to become an event where we park at the leb lot, fill our camelback's up with beer and ride to the OC. ;)
The fun WILL continue... that I can promise!
Man... gotta really watch what a person says and how around here - especially if one is attacking the beer! ;) :D :p

I was just referring to your comment back - your statement that that has become the main focus of these rides.
I was just saying, we weren't riding because of rain/wet conditions, so how could the focus be on the rides, unless we tear up the trails - right?
Honestly, it's about the riding, the social aspect, then the beer (or wine/liquor/water/ice tea - what ever you fancy)..
If it wasn't we just have happy hrs or sit on some deck at some ones house - riding segway's in circles..
Oh - for those who don't know what a segway is:

Certain people who shall go nameless, like Shad, give off this vibe that any ride ending near alcohol results in a wayward drunken barnyard orgy or scares people away from skills sessions. Although I'd wager most attending would by front row seats for such an event it really doesn't happen folks so please stop blowing it out of proportion.
Have you ever been to OC? It's a cheesy suburban restaurant chain that serves a variety of beers. It's not Red Dragon at 1am on a Saturday.
You know, if you don't want to drink an alcoholic beverage just grab a Coke and a smile and STFU (credit Eddie Murphy). Plenty of people happily drink soda and mingle like normal human beasties.

I'll second the "sexy" comment. It was hot without the overalls! Men doing manual labor to keep our trails safe...yummy. ;)
Sorry, I hope that isn't like sexual harrassment or something.

As a general noob to this group (where's my MORC logo! :D) I would have to say that long before "joining" up on the group rides (and other craziness like the Gnome rescue party) I still rode Leb and many other trails. And, after each ride I usually would tip a couple back in the parking lot while just hanging out. I agree with Dirk about the social aspect of the rides and from my own experience I have gotten out to ride more (almost every Thursday, Levi, soon to be Cable) because of the social aspect of this amazing group of misfits.
Plus Ryan was my good buddy last night who convinced me to make 2 night laps and shared his light with me when mine was failing.
my 2 cents!

Great ride! Only did the 2nd lap and it was my first night ride this year. Holy candle power Batman, everyone has really upped the ante on the watts they're packin' ! My little spot of yellow light was swallowed up in a blue-white sea of HIDs and mega LEDs.
I'm glad I had some Lexan to bring Bob otherwise I probably wouldn't have ridden at all since I was still pouring the last of my 18 bags of concrete at 7:30. In a wierd way, "thanks Bob!"

Great ride both laps. The parking lot by myself I could have done with out but that means I need to step it up on getting my own lights. Thanks John for letting me borrow your helmet light, and Nita for popping my night ride cherry, and one last thanks to Jodi who completed the night ride initiation by a quick flash:crazy2: Hope next week is as good as this.

Just to clear up some people perception about the group rides. The rides are always about the ride. The post ride is about whatever people want their post ride to be. It can be beer, pop, chips, pretzels, or going home to the family. But the ride is always the same.
