I rode this trail on Saturday Sept. 22. WOAH! I should say I tried to ride this trail. Were there vandals here? Or is this trail or many many parts of it closed on purpose?

There were branches and logs put in places throughout the trail. :banghead: No it was not the wind. This trail was a nightmare! (Please note: I have loved the other trails of MORC.)

Monticello is maintained by BLAST, a MORC chapter. I think a lack of trail volunteers in that area has made it difficult for trail maintenance to get done efficiently. There are a some great volunteers out there, but there just aren't enough bodies to keep up. Usually they try to do a spring cleanup and fall cleanup. The trail is just too much to keep up in the summer with all the weeds and brush. They are doing their best, but haven't had a chance to get their fall cleanup done yet. My recommedation is to always post up in advance of a Monti ride to get the current trail conditions before you ride. Sometimes it is just a jungle and is better to avoid.

I'm hoping to get out to Monti sometime after Oct. 5th. I'm going to clear the trail, and assess the reroutes/blockages mentioned as of late. I know the trail inside and out, so I should be able to get it up and running for some fall rides. We had a big storm come through recently, and surely that is why all the trees are down. The trail has been cleared, twice this year, of trees. Once by me, and once by a group from St. Cloud. We are trying to keep it cleared, but it is a special trail, that grows over very fast. We can clear this trail, for example, early summer, and it will be completey overgrown by Late July. I do plan to get it in order. I am a volunteer host promoting a private concert for recording artist 'Wisely', and will be extremely busy through the 5th of Oct. I'll post up when the trail is clear for riding.
