Looking to get out of town this weekend for a little camping trip. I'm considering heading toward wisconsin (though not necessarily) but don't know where to go. Here's My criteria:
1. Must be within two hours away.
2. Reasonably close to some good biking trails.
I don't really care where we go as long as it's close and pretty. Let the suggestions begin. Thanks all.

Chequamegon is this weekend. So if you don't want to be around a ton of people, I suggest staying away from the CAMBA areas.

Depending on how fast you can drive - might I suggest Southern Kettle in WI - John Muir and Emma Karland(sp) trails (kind of between Milwaukee and Madison). For most, it is more than 2 hours, but I don't know your driving habits.

drive down and camp friday night here-http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/state_parks/frontenac/index.html
ride memorial in the morning, and then go ride steeple in the early afternoon. Follow the zumbro river down through hammond to milleville and head to plainview, where you will camp here-http://www.dnr.state.mn.us/state_parks/carley/index.html
head to winona the next day and ride zinger and then follow the river back home, just a thought.

Levis-Trow dude. It's close to 2 hours away, and there is a very nice campground at Lake Arbutus (just outside of Hatfield). It's only 2 miles away. You can ride to the trails. I think it's possible to camp right there at Levis-Trow too.
BTW, even though the Fattire 40 is going on in CAMBA, the trails will probably not be crowded at all. I've been there on Fattire weekend and major holidays many times, and it's eerie (and wonderful) how I still never see more than a handful of people the whole time I'm riding.

I was thinking more about the camping part.....not the riding part. The race is on the double track and ski trails, so all the other CAMBA trails will be virtually empty.

Levis-Trow dude.
I second Levis-Trow. I was there last weekend and the trails were in good condition. You can camp at Levis or at the lake...both had MTBers last weekend.

Make a tird-3rd. Levis has the best scenery, as in overlooks, in WI and most of MN. Camping area has some nice pines to rest under as well.
