It's about time the SS crew is shown some respect!... Props for making the dream possible, just beware SPH will be there in full force and we carry around gear rippers.

So if you win this SS sport race you are State SS Champ? The incentive...how big an afro do you win?

Yeah, more details on the "SS Championship" please. :) Is it different from the series ranking? Like Heath said, you win this one and you're the state SS champ?
THUMP!

I saw that the citizen was 1 + prologue but does anyone know the actual distance? What trail system is this?

Jail trail in St Cloud. Same coarse as last years race. I think it was about 1 mile prologue and 5 mile laps?

Another way of saying the Beginners Class.
Give it a try. Based on how you do in this race you can gage what class to race in next season.

Hey Single Speeders! We are getting a lot of emails on what gear would be good for the MN SS State Championships. I have chatted with our local SSr's and they ride 29r's with a 34x18 set up. A 2 to 1 ratio can also be an option if you are worried about the start loop (grassy ski trail).
The weather looks good, and a group of us rode the trail this evening. It is in great shape, it's rolling really fast! The rain we did receive soaked right into the ground.
Hope to see you all up here for a great weekend of racing!

As of 4:45 p.m. the report from the N. Loop (Jail Trail) is that the conditions are actually pretty good. Tacky in a few spots and a few greezy corners but NOT the nightmare of 2006.
The wind is blowing and the sun has been out all afternoon. Temps in the 70's on Saturday so life is good!

Word.
I really enjoyed racing on this course! I like a good ski hill/lung buster climb as much as the next rider, but it was a pleasure to not be so tired I couldn't think!

Agree. Druckenmiller, you we're a factor in sport all year. SNARL. You showed up, always placed well, and always on a single speed. Nice work. Move up! ha ha ha. See you at the awards? Is there is such an event this year?
Kyia, race directors, nice race. Every course has it's good, for me Jail was all about slaloming through the trees. The really tight stuff was sorta weird. Roots, all good. Overall I thought it was well organized and fun! Thanks for the brats...if it wasn't so hot..... Also, the announcer was funny. The revolution bike shop (http://revolutioncycleandski.com/).....let's just say without the staff on site help things would have been way way different for me. Duncan and I had a great time. Thanks. Next year.

Yea, nice job Chris. I met you riding out at Murphy one day and thought to myself "who is this crazy singlespeeder who's wearing glasses like 'Walter' from The Big Lebowski." I didn't know you could ride your SS so fast. You handily beat many of my riding buddies in this race. You also put the hammer down in the Murphy TT, I assume on your single speed. It seems like you have definately stepped up your game this year. Nice work!

Congrats on a good finish... single speed represent. Now I need you to move up to comp. I'm in need of some ss competition, there were about three of us, lets ramp it up for next year!!!
Peace, love, and one gear

Nice work there Druckenmiller! 3rd place in the State Championship race!
???
Do you know something I don't? Was there a late D/Q somewhere after the event, 'cause I could have sworn I was about :30 seconds behind 3rd. :) 4th place as far as I know (unless I find out different right now when I check mnscs.com ... )
Thanks for the props, folks. I dunno if I'll move up next year or not. Might be nice to WIN in the SSS class for once next year :). I'm wondering if I can use the lessons learned this year to help with that next.
Heath's the REAL freakin' animal, though! SS state champ and then he went on to race in Expert an hour later!

Heh ... my "Am I wrong?" thing was 100% Big Lebowsky quoting, BTW ;).
Yeah, I'm still pleased with my non-podium finish. The guy who got 3rd had been advancing slow and steady all through lap 2 and got by me at that one short, steep climb when I spun out. I just couldn't recover from that, but still a great race!
