View Full Version : How "Easy" is the Easy part?

Me and my girlfriend are planning on going to Memorial Park this coming weekend and I was looking at the pdf of the map and see that there is the big green "easy" area. Now, we were just at Hillside not too long ago and she had a really rough time on that (granted it was pretty technical compared to what I've read about memorial).

Is there anyone that has been to both hillside and memorial park that can compare them in terms of difficulty? Cause I don't want my girlfriend to have a miserable time cause the so called "easy" part is anything but.

If I recall, the "easy" stuff is pretty much all doubletrack. Technically, the worst you'll get is some rutted/washed out a bit sections since the city routes the ski trails sort of right down a couple of hills. Physically there are a couple of hills that will get a more inexperienced rider huffing and puffing pretty bad (or good depending on your outlook).

A few of the singletrack sections are more beginner friendly (Margaritaville and Lay Down Sally from that PDF) than the others. Unfortunately I cannot compare the two as I haven't been to Hillside.

Thanks for a detailed description of the easy section it helps a lot! It sounds much easier than hilside as all of it is pretty tight and twisting single track with a lot of elevation changes.
