If this offends someone, I apologize in advance.
Every time I check theese forums someone is complaining about something.
How can we stop this ? I have the answer. Stop complaining and do something !!!!!!!!!
If you dont like the way the trail you ride is maintained/built, go out and do trail work.
If you dont like when/where an event is planned, go to the planning meetings.
If you dont do something to help change things, then you shouldnt complain.
Once again if I ofended anyone, I apologize.

My personal approach for complaining is to flame the hell out of those that I deem deserving, but never actually post it. It feels great, but I don't help perpetuate the insanity.

That's an old practice for dealing with unpleasant situations, but it still is valid, regardless of the medium. I first learned it from my engineering "communications english" teacher over 50 years ago. Then of course you just put the letter in your desk & either revised or discarded it the next day.

What are you complaining about here.. I don't get it. You have upset me now. ;)
I hear ya on the complaining though. We get dinged quite often for the negative vibe that the forums can often show.
I get sucked into way more of these situations than I want even though it appears I jump in at a moments notice. Being a moderator, and individual AND a board member puts me in a strange spot sometimes. I also think some amount of discussion is healthy... but sometimes it just gets to be too much.
I guess I'd ask everyone to please be as respectful as you can even if you have different opinions... as difficult as it can be at times.
Also.. we should use the non-biking forums to vent or troll... its a much safer place and was set up so people could do it without having it be open to the general public. It can be an even more frustrating area, but surprisingly enough is fairly calm even though it can help burn up a whole work day/week if one isn't careful...
Stop complaining and do something !!!!!!!!!
How about constructive feedback? Is that allowed?
People will always complain! There is no way to stop that.
My opinion is that nobody should complain about riding events/races unless they have helped to put on an event themselves in the past. If you have never done the work, then you have no right to complain. ;)
If you haven't done the work but would like to offer up constructive criticism - that is what pm's are for.

I guess what I was try to say was, instead of ...........
"I dont like the way _____ trail was built."
"___ trail is not challenging enough."
etc.. etc..
Why dont we try .............
"I rode ______ trail today and notice __, I would be willing to help fix ____."
"How can I help make _____ trail more challenging?"
Constructive feedback is always good. I just dont see the point of complaining, if your not going to do something to change what ever your complaining about.
Thats why insteed of complaining about complainers, I gave suggestions on how to fix what ever they dont like.

If I don't think the complainer's points are valid, I just ignore them and personally label them as "WACKO". It's easy to not get worked up over something a "WACKO" said.

Thanks for the morning laugh Rich! :)
Constructive criticism is good.
I also like the idea of the pm's. That helps keep the general mood of the forums on the positive and good natured side, which is always a good thing.

Ya know what I hate... people complaining about people complaining. ;)
Just kidding, I always apply this rule. "Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, mine is the only one that matters". Most of the time mine is positive and humorous so it doesn't really bug me too much.

When people complain and my blood gets boiling about it there's only one solution:
Take my aggression out on the trail by riding it.

Human beings are, in general, a pack of useless wankers. Complaining gives them a sense of purpose otherwise absent from their lives. A sense of purpose that might be gained through alternate means. Such as, you know, actually doing something to fix that which irks them.
But that usually requires effort. And if we have advanced as a species at all over the past few hundred thousand years, it is through our relentless perfection of the avoidance of effort. In large part by diverting the Responsibility for said effort to Someone Else.
This strategy is brilliant on two levels. First, it accomplishes the avoidance of effort in spades. No energy whatsoever is expended by merely deflecting, redirecting or ignoring Responsibility. On rare occasions, it may be necessary to dodge It. But this is easily accomplished, as Responsibility has notoriously lousy aim. Left to Its own devices, Responsibility would just careen around in dizzying randomness, much like that one sorry kid on the playground who's always "it" because he's too slow, uncoordinated or just plain dumb to catch anyone. In fact, the only way a person gets saddled with Responsibility is to Take It. Which is simple enough, as It rarely puts up much of a fight.
Second, directing Responsibility to Someone Else simultaneously creates an instant scapegoat for one's dissatisfaction over whatever the poor sap manages to do with It. People who can actually be conned in to Taking Responsibility are easy marks for this sort of thing. Plus they are readily spotted from the Higher Ground of Self-Importance, which is where expert Responsibility Dodgers usually hang out, biding their time and waiting for something about which to complain.
It's brilliant, really. Wish I'd thought of it.

I hate it when I see people complaining back at me for complaining and I don't know who they are because I never see them at trail work. I don't go on group rides so I'll only know you from trail work. If you don't know me then you've probably never been to trail work at Wirth. ;)

I hate it when I see people complaining back at me for complaining ...
And then there are those who piss me off by complaining about me complaining back at them for complaining.
Don't even get me started on the ones who complain about complainers who complained about those who complained.
Finally, I think we all feel mutual disgust toward those who complain about complainers complaining about those who complain about people who complain.

i definitely see a correlation between those who complain & lack of involvement (trailwork)... it's like they go hand in hand or something... quite the conundrum...

;)I don't even believe its possible for that to happen but if Chris does implode his head will be like a balloon of stored energy and the wrong prick could potentially get some fingers blown off his or her hand. This sounds very dangerous and unstable.

Perhaps human-kind can be broken down into the following "Give a lazy man a job and he'll find an easy way to do it. Give a smart lazy man a job and he'll find someone else to do it for him".
And then we invented religion.

Hardly. Four short paragraphs and clipped coda? That's just warming up.
I certainly hope you're not complaining about the lengths of Dan's and my posts...

My post would have been waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay loooooooooooooonger.......I'm actually offended by your lack of confidence in my ability to post a bunch of nonsense about something I know little to nothing about and turn it into a four to eight paragraph post. :banghead:;):p:D
Complainers suckarse.........:deadhorse: (does anyone else find it weird that smiley is beating the crap out of the horse's testicles??? :hit:)
