Over the past five years, the Backcountry Trail Patrol has "adopted" a number of trails in the areas we patrol. In addition to providing mountain bike patrol on those trails, we also do trail care and maintenance as needed. The first of theses trails was the Simpson Creek Trails in the Chippewa National Forest. The second trail we adopted was the Pancore Lake Loop, 15 miles north of Tofte in the Superior National Forest. Since we mapped and marked the trail in 2002, local riders and the Forest Service have provided general maintenance to the trail, but in the last year or so, logging has all but eliminated the western leg of the triangular loop. We are in the process of setting up a work weekend for October 12 - 14, that will include one day of trail work; marking, mapping and clearing the trail, with special emphasis on the west side, and (hopefully) one day of free patrolling (riding) at Lutsen (full lift access for a day) and two nights of free camping at the nearby USFS Temperance River Campground (not to be confused with the state park of the same name). Further details will be posted at www.trailpatrol.org (http://www.trailpatrol.org/) when they are available. Plan now to take part in the special effort to take back our trail!

Ride safe,
