I asked a few months ago about advice for Moab, and received some pretty helpful info. Here is what I got from my first time to Moab:
Rental bikes at every shop I went to were almost brand new, or in New condition
If they ask if you want a shuttle to the trail head, DO IT (don't worry about the cost)
Don't go in the summer (average temp when I was there 1 week ago 105-110 deg):embarass:
Plenty of bikers around town and cars will be more likely to yield.
Just my experience, I am going back again in the early spring to do more riding, it was Awesome.:jumpy:

Glad you had fun. Moab is a blast. I much prefer the trails in Grand Junction and Fruita but it's hard to beat a full Porc Rim shuttle run.

My observation...Slickrock isn't all what its cracked up to be. I would much rather ride single track and Porc rim rocked:D

I rode the main rode from town to Gemini Bridges, and Bar M loop. I also rode a couple of misc jeep trails along Copper Ridge rode. I didn't get past Gemini Bridges because it was 10 miles to get to Gemini, and I rode from town(should have gotten the the shuttle to the trail head:banghead:).
I did rent a brand new Santa Cruz Blur LT(now I want one) it was in brand new condition. I did flat as soon as I got out of town.

Bah! We're in Frisco riding the Summit County trails (Breck, Frisco, Leadville, ect..) right now and while the break in heat is nice, we also spent a day in Moab and 4 in Fruita/Grand Junction last week and it was over 100 every day and I LOVED it!!!!!! Just have to stay hydrated and not push yourself, it's not that bad  Two more days to go!
