Greetings all,
Well, it finally happened - an MNSCS race that wasn't unbearably hot! The cold and windy weather was a fairly nice change of pace from the sweat-fests of late. Good job to all that participated - hopefully you all had a good time - I know we did, except for the fact that we had to pack it in a bit early due to our tent nearly blowing away...
On the subject of the big winds, I had a new experience out on the course yesterday. We were shooting in the rock/drop section of the Comp/Expert race when we heard the sound of a tree coming down not far away. Turns out, an old ash/poplar became uprooted and fell across the trail below the drop area. Shad and Mara of the mountain bike patrol led the charge, and along with a bunch of spectators, the tree (it was a full-sized tree, not some little sapling) was picked up and carried off the trail. Good times, and big props to the riders who bunny-hopped it before we could get it moved!
