I'm fairly new to the single speed thing, but have been riding my new Monocog like mad and love it! I think it'd be cool to get a group of SS'ers together for a ride. I'd like to learn some things from you guys, plus it helps to see that other peoples' legs are burning just as much as mine are :D If anyone is interested, let me know. Lately I've been doing a lot of riding in the Minnehaha area, nothing too challenging but still some darn good riding.

The Theo Monday rides sort of faded away this year but they were always a great opportunity for a bunch of SS riders to get together. :)
Murphy took the Monday night spot, though, and I'd hate to steal the thunder from those rides. I know Bill O used to have Topsy Turvy Teddy Tuesdays which were strictly night rides at Theo going backwards, but maybe Tuesdays would be a good night for a regular Theo ride?
Sure, it's the same night as Leb trailwork, but I'm not so sure a Tuesday night Theo ride would actually affect Tuesday night Leb trailwork.

I don't necessarily even mean a regular weekly ride, I was just thinking about one night sometime in the near future.

Well, then, name the time and place.
Seems like the night rides at Salem last year were pretty much SS fests.

I would be up for a SS ride, that would be really fun!!! I have a SS 29'er which is just a really fun bike to ride. I am not the fastest rider, but I try hard.

Yeah, we need more days in the week. I think there is trail work practically every weeknight, and group rides also every week night. just not enuf days! :banghead: I wanna ride Murphy on Monday, but need to be at Battle Creek trail work at that time.
Good luck SS-ing

I've been envisioning a ride from Minnehaha Falls to Theo/Wirth and back. Nice paved trails the whole way there, plus Theo. Anybody else like that idea???

I like that idea... Any idea the mileage on that ride? Just curious. Looks like the early reports on the weekend are going to be dry... hmmmmm

I am not 100% sure of the mileage, but I often ride from Minnehaha up to and around Lake Calhoun and Harriet and it doesn't take that long, but I usually cruise at a pretty good clip. Theo/Wirth is a little bit farther. If I had to guess, I would not think it to be more than 15 miles one-way. I used to ride to Battle Creek all the time, and that is 12 miles one-way.

Sounds pretty cool! I think this would be best as a weekend ride considering the distance covered and mileage. It'd be longer than the usual group ride but not nearly as long as the "mega group ride" people are putting together.
I haven't ridden around Minnehaha much lately. Might be interesting to check out that spot.

This upcoming weekend is open for me. I'll look into times and whatnot. What sort of cogs are you guys running? I have 32/16, just curious as to how well this will work at Theo.

2:1 will work swimmingly at Theo.

I have a 32/20 set up, I have rode this set up, at Lebanon, Murphy and the river bottoms it worked good for me I guess, even though I don't know any different since I am cog less and only own 1... This weekend works for me... Are we just talking a ride, or would there be post ride festivities?

I like the idea of post-ride festivities! Let me check my weekend schedule, I could possibly host a BBQ at my place in Highland Park.

i would be interested in this ride.
whenever i ride theo i ride there and back from my house
which is on the creek at portland ave. - from there it is
roughly 9 miles to the trail, so guessing 15 from minnenhaha
is probably close.
caps is on hiawatha and 50th.

So 30 miles round trip not including mileage on the trail. Ok, I am going to need a support car and an O2 tank every 6 miles just in case...
This will be a fun ride...
Any thoughts on a day or time anyone???
:bush: I think that is really funny.

It's right at the park pavillion next to the falls. So, it doesn't look like a spot for a restaurant until you're right there and you see the sign for "Sea Salt."
I know the guy who runs the place too, my wife used to play softball with him: John Blood. He's a trained seafood chef and that restaurant is, hands down, the BEST seafood in the Cities!
I realize it doesn't say much to claim to be "the best seafood" in the middle of a continent, but I dare say the food there rivals places at Fisherman's Warf in S.F..

I have been riding my Monocog for about 3 years and it's one of my favorite bikes I've ever owned! BTW I am in the STC area so I am not around to do many of the Twin Cities rides, but I would like to do a downtown Minneapolis or U of M ride soon. :)

Due to the weather lately, let's postpone this ride until another weekend when things won't be so wet and sloppy. However, I will still probably kick around on the SS this weekend, should anyone care to join me :)
