How often do you actually use your big ring? I replaced my big ring with a basher moons ago. Saves your right calf from sharkbite too.

29er or 26er shouldn't matter as BB height is in the same range.

Hmmm...good point...I don't think I've ever used the large ring on a trail before.

Pull your back tire up as you nose bonk the log with your front and push the bike out in front of you in case you hit the ring a little.

And get a bash guard too!

THUMP!

On my 29er it is easy even for my but on my 26 with a low bb I can't make it over even with a bash guard. My form is not proper as you should be able to hop it.

While you're at it, get rid of the granny gear ring, too. In fact, take off the other 8 cogs on your casette in the back leaving just an 18 tooth cog, replace the rear der with a chain tensioner ... ;)

Or...maybe I can put a cog of on the front and rear?????:D So I biked Murphy tonight and guess what?? Large ring meets log...again! They should be pretty well acquainted by now...cuz I'm fairly well acquainted with the ground in that area!

My ring hits it, the first time I used the teeth to pull me over it kinda.
Second time it stopped me dead and my knees hit the bars, hurt a little.
Third time, stopped solid again only this time I must've been running over it at a different angle because it shoved my arse back onto the saddle hard enough for it to bend the rails and almost push one through its mount.
Time for a new saddle, I only upgrade what I destroy first :D

My big ring definately hits on that one, too. However, I'm always able to crank through it. I haven't thought about it much before, but I think how I make it is by placing my right foot/crank at the top-forward of it's apex and unweighting at the same time. I also ride with clipless pedals and that probably helps a bit, too. So, I clear the front over the log, the teeth hit and I pedal through while unweighting the rear.
