Hey All,

Trail work is on for Monday night!

We'll meet at the Rec. Center lot off of Winthrop again. From there we will head over to the TOP of the New Trail, the overlook off of Burns avenue.

This week we'll begin clearing the corridor from the top down, so they can get in with the machines to make the bench cut.

New faces are always welcome! No experience necessary. Long pants, sturdy shoes and gloves are suggested attire. We'll provide tools and anything else needed.

There is a tree down just after Fern Gully, when you take the right turn. This tree is in the rocky/rooty downhill section where I almost lost a leg to a different tree last week.

I'll be there but possibly a few minutes late. If late, should I meet you at the upper parking lot (scenic overlook)?

I'll see if I can get in there and take it out before trailwork starts. I'll probably get over there around 5.

Yup, meet us at the overlook if you're coming a little later.

Lots of blow downs. Not sure what storm it was from. There is a tree down on the trail that bisects the ski loop. It's been down for a while because there is a pretty good trial around it now. There is a tree down that is being held up by another tree just as you turn down the connector trail toward Battle Creek Rd. off the ski trail. This one looks solid but it's something we'll need to watch long term. There is also a tree knocked over on the West Ridge trail close to where we took the head banger out earlier this year. It also is resting on another tree and pushed that tree into the trail far enough that the trail is shifting up the back slope as people ride around it. I can be out there at 5:00 if you need help. Just let me know where to meet.

Noticed a few of those on my ride on Thursday morning. There's enough of them around that it may be worth mentioning to John to have the county guys remove some of them. We'll chat some more at noon today.

I plan on being out early to remove burr bushes from the gnarly switchback.
