Maplelag Resort is excited :jumpy: to have the opportunity to host race #9 in the MNSCS, the Laddies Loppet. The course has been groomed/maintained throughout the summer and is in excellent condition. The course will remain open until the day of race for pre-riding, free of charge. On site lodging and camping with meals will be available for the race weekend. It is recommened to make reservations as soon as possible as the lodging units typically will sell out. More information about lodging on the bottom of the Laddies Loppet event page (http://www.maplelag.com/events.html#september).
The xc race is the race that counts in the MNSCS series. Once again the course is a bit different compared to other years. The Citizen (2 laps) and Kids Comp (1 lap) course will be the same as the UCI beginner race this spring. It is circa 4 miles in length, running mostly on rolling ski trail with singletrack sections. It is a good course for the first time racer yet challenging for the seasoned racer. We have taken out some of the ski trail sections for the Sport/Comp/Expert loop. Sport will do 2 laps, Comp 3 laps and Experts 4 laps. Each lap is circa 6.2 miles long. Click here for map course. (http://www.maplelag.com/LaddiesLoppet2002-AllCourses.pdf)
I have been monitoring the message board and hope to address the issue of wave starts and times in between to best accomodate all riders in the Sport class. I have witnessed the Sport starts at most of the races and realize something different should be done. At this point it looks like we might do a mass start with the top 25 riders called to the line and self seeding after that. We will make every effort to call up riders in all the classes to recognise the series leaders after race #8. (feel free to comment) Will will pay out top 15 in Expert overall regardless of the field size and every Expert women that shows up will get paid. T-shirts will be included in registration at the regular MNSCS fees.
The stage race will include a timed trial, mainly running on ski trails and a short track criterium around the Maplelag complex and the xc on Sunday of course. Saturday's events are a great way to "tune up" for Sunday's race. The stage race will be scored for all regular MNSCS classes (open, no age groups) with the lowest cumulative time to determine the winner. At least top 3 overall will be recognized for each stage and the overall.
Sunday evening we will be having a bbq in the Argentenean grill for all overnight guests followed by some fun at the bmx track and a bonfire.
This a fun weekend for all riders. Be sure to bring the kids as there are lots of activities for them. For more information and questions, please feel free to contact Jay. Hope to see you here!! :) (jrichard@arvig.net)
