View Full Version : BC Trail Work 7/30 5:30 PM Rec Center
Hey All,
Trail work is on for Monday night!
We'll meet at the Rec. Center lot off of Winthrop again. Then we'll head down to the new trail at the end of pt. Douglas Rd. at about 5:40.
This week we'll continue working on the entrance to the new trail.
New faces are always welcome! No experience necessary. Long pants, sturdy shoes and gloves are suggested attire. We'll provide tools and anything else needed.

Of course, I'm in. I might have another person showing tomorrow as well. He does construction work all day, so I told him that he could do some trimming, or tamping, depending on what the situation calls for. So that might make two new recruits for tomorrow. We had a close call tonight on the rocky downhill section of the trail that goes to the right, when you come out of Fern Gully. There is a downed tree that has been on the left side of the rocky section for sometime now, and it seemed to creep closer and closer to the trail. I finally clipped it with my shin, and the rider behind me caught his ankle on it. If either of us would have caught it directly, it would have resulted in a broken leg for sure. I lost a bunch of blood out of the deal, but pulled a Rambo, and sealed the gash with chewing gum and pine needles. Our group went back up the trail and moved the tree a couple of feet back, but I still think that it poses a danger to anyone that might bail going over the rocks. I plan on being out early tomorrow, so I will bring my saw, and try to get rid of what I can. There are also quite a few face-slappers around that I plan on eradicating. Other than that, big knobbies are the order of the day, with all of the loose earth, and rocks.

I have a grad school presentation due on Wed. so I'm going to have to miss today.
Matt- Good luck with the presentation. We'll catch ya later.
Everyone else- We'll see ya there tonight! Nice job on the new recruits. We'll try not to work 'em too hard. ;)
Looks like it's going to be a warm one tonight. I'll have some water and/or gatorade tonight for everone.

I was thinking about asking if some cold refreshments were wanted for tonight. I could stop and pick something up.

You're my new hero. :D
Sounds like a great plan if you're able to swing it. Thanks!

Anything tastes good after trailwork. Whatever you bring, people will enjoy. :)
Thanks everyone for coming out tonight.
We're really making some headway on the new trail. It's gonna be a fun one!
Great to have some new faces out as well. Thanks for joining us Andrea and Lonnie. Hope to see you again.
Same plan next Monday. 5:30 at the Rec Center parking lot.

It was WAY better than a group ride at some other trail. That is for sure. Much easier. No chairs needed for the circle of sweat after, beverages provided, great trail work and and future of the trail talk could have lasted for hours. Thanks everyone!!

Yeah, and no mountain lions to worry about just missing persons. . . ;)

Yeah, did the lab results come back yet on the bones that we found?
Yeah I was temped to post up to the Murphy Cougar thread that the BC Drug Dealers and Pimps could beat up (or at least shoot) the Leb Coyote or the the Murphy Mountain Lion. On the other hand the Gnome is a formidable opponent.
