I predict they're both going to post mediocre results.

Leadville 100 is Dave W.'s to loose, he is FAST! He'll finish in 7:10hrs like usual and Lance and Floyd will cite pains and drop or finish in 8:30hrs after cracking on the Powerline. Would be fun to watch!!

I'll give the nod to Floyd.

I think F & L will finish Top 10 but I think there are some good ol' dirt spankers that will own them in L'Ville.

My 2 cents is going with the Red Squirll (HEATH!!!) putting both those guys in a hurt bag...
LCR1 (Mike Larson of Larson Cycles) will also be there looking for points...
The odds are evened out on dirt...
Look out, angry Red Squirll to attack!!!
Since Lance is not actively racing and Floyd is suspended I am pretty sure the guys in white lab coats with beakers won't be there so I am predicting a photo finish between Lance and Floyd. :D:cool:
Although come to think of it, Floyd says he is broke so he won't be able to afford any of the really good stuff that Lance still can so Lance will probably dust the field. Lance's ego is too big to let anyone get one up on him. ;)
Man am I cynical or what??? :eyeroll:

Dave Wiens cheered me on as I made my way up the climb to Columbine Mine (as he was flying down-hours ahead of me) so I will ALWAYS cheer for him to win!!!
I hope the hype around Lance and Landis doesn't taint Leadville and make it a race for 'cool kids'...

A DNF is always a possibility. A well-timed mechanical may let him save face if he starts to slip.

Very true.
I actually just read an article on Lance riding some of the course. It was by Chris Carmichael so it has to be taken with a grain of salt but he said Lance was pretty excited about it and he rode it incredibly fast, again a grain of salt but it was kind of interesting. Great publicity for the race. The organizers sound as excited as Ralphie when he opened his Red Rider BB Gun on Christmas. :D

Dave Weins or another local/regular will win. Lance next year. Nat is too close to 9 mile effort. Race next Saturday Aug 11.
