View Full Version : USA Cycling points?
I thought MNSCS events would get posted to USA Cycling members accounts? I raced two MNSCS events last year (Spirit Mtn and St. Cloud) and this year at Mont Du Lac and haven't seen anything. Although my results aren't my greatest at the last two, I'd still like them tracked. At all 3 events they had my USAC number. I tried emailing MNSCS about this and got no response last fall and tried emailing them last week but it would not go through. Who is in charge of this?

I'm not sure if mnscs (each director) or if USA Cycling decided not to post.....two years ago yes, last year none of mine made it. Oh well. The cheeseheads are beating us all in points/tandings, but who's countng.

I believe its the race organizers responsibility to submit the results. Here in MN each race has a different organizer but in WI its all under one roof and so results get sent regularily. The points don't make much difference unless you plan on doing a national or something like that.
Someone always posts the results to the mnscs website, and I'm assuming there is a group of people that "run" mnscs- keep track of points, events, etc. USAC knows about all the MNSCS events- it seems they just need results of the racers with USAC numbers? I understand everyone works hard that is involved in MNSCS. I'm just wondering what can be done to get the results sent.
I realize that USAC points don't mean anything to some people, but I suspect that those people are not USAC members. For some, like me, its fun to track that stuff.

Because it's not done legally. Have you seen 3-4 USAC officials at all the races this season?

You don't need 3-4 usac officials at the races to send the points. You just have to register the race with usa cycling. As of this spring the only ones in minnesota that had bothered registering were maplelag spring opener, steeplechase, and laddies loppet. It's up to the other directors to do it. At least that is my understanding. I will check into it when I get a chance.

Sez who? If it's USA Cycling santioned MTB event, you have to have officials there. You are using the USA Cycling name and insurance. If something happens to a rider, who pays the insurance and signs the papers?
Are you a USAC Certified Official?
Page 20.
"(f) The organizer is responsible for paying the race officials on the day of the race immediately after race results are final, upon receipt of an invoice from the chief referee. A check for the insurance surcharge shall be made out to "USA Cycling" and sent by the organizer, along with the post-event report, to USA Cycling no later than 21 days after their event."
I would suggest you take time to sit down and read the entire thing.

Here is the link. Tell me where it says 3-4 officials are necessary. I haven't read the whole thing you posted. I am generally to busy with trail work, race planning, and keeping track of the mnscs team scoring. If you have that kind of time maybe you should volunteer to help out. You could become an official. Or spend your time telling people off on the morc forums.

We have never had 3-4 officials at any MNSCS race, but I do have 7 MNSCS results posted starting with the Spring Cup '04. I was told that it is up to the directors to register the race and report the results (like Matt said).
I don't know that USA Cycling results really help you anyway. Upgrading for MTBKing can be done with non-registered races.

If you have that kind of time maybe you should volunteer to help out. You could become an official. I put on (promote) 4 races a year and am a Certified USAC Official.
