Berry season is here!

On your next ride through Battle Creek be sure you stop and refuel with some of natures finest.

Season starts out with black raspberries. I just picked a quart of them in fern gully yesterday. MMMmm yum! Some of those will be going in the sangria for the Bonanza next weekend (http://www.morcmtb.org/forums/showthread.php?t=21721).

In a couple of weeks we'll have blackberries, then raspberries shortly after that. You'll find each type growing in some section of the park.

Awesome! Are we allowed to pick in the park? I know they frown on picking other plants. Just want to know so I don't get screamed at, which seems to happen to me at BC on a frighteningly regular basis. Not quite sure why, its not like I am cutting new trails, skidding or riding when wet.

As far as I know, collecting the "fruit" of a plant is perfectly fine. I collect mushrooms in the park and talk to the land manager about it regularly.

Collecting the plant itself, or digging it up for transplanting in your yard would not be allowed.
