View Full Version : Mankato
Does anyone know the trail sequence for the Sport course at Mankato? I think I'll remember once I get there and ride it, but a cheat sheet would be helpful.
Thanks!

Unless something significant changes, the route is normally the following for Sport/Citizen:
- Start at the chalet and climb up to the top
- Around the top to Gets Tight
- Up Cedar Climb
- Depending on weather, Mad Squirrel may be included
- Down Dead Horse and through the Maze
- Up Staircase
- Down Ridge Run to Cabin Run
- Repeat.

Any new trail cut since last summers race?
Or do you have plans to add anything different for the July 8th race?
Thanks.

Mt. Kato is my home trail and I would LOVE more/new trails out there, but sadly there has not been any development this year. :cryin: This is a paid privilege park, so I have to pay an annual fee to ride there. The park is under a new manager and I'm hoping the trails will get some expansion in the near future.
Anyone who rides the Bluff Rider's this year, please speak up to the organizers so they can pass this on to Mt. Kato management.

No wonder you see class 5 as the trail maintenance solution of choice at Mankato...
Maybe I'll skip it and go move dirt and rock on my local trail instead... Said trail happens to be the same management that oversees Mt. Kato and we still get it done somehow... Although, grand plans of the past are now more realistic based on volunteer time...

The event courses for Bluff Rider's Charge are posted on the MNSCS site. Sport, Comp & Expert have been tweaked to create a faster, flowing race & include a visit to "Quick Release" which has not been used before.
There has been talk of converting an existing Mt Kato trail to a North Shore style trail...
We are indeed fortunate in MN to have so many MTB riding options with different landscapes, etc.
See you all on Sunday, July 8th!

Mike,
We were out preriding today. The course is in good shape and the Sport loop should be fast. I wish I could ride Kato more often. Did you plan to clear the burr bushes at the bottom of the luge. It is hard to get the burrs off of biking clothing :)
Second question: What is a "North Shore Style" trail?
