BC Trail Work 6/18 5:30 Rec Center lot

This week we'll be meeting at the Rec Center on Winthrop at 5:30.

It's time to do a little trail taming and trimming! Bring loppers/pruners and or your favorite hand saw.

If you'd like, bring bikes. We will probably split the group up and head out to various areas of the park that are the most grown over.

Had a good session last night. Got most of the really overgrown spots taken care of. Thanks to all that came out.

Had a really good meeting with Tim Wegner of TrailSource regarding machine time on our new trail. Looks like we will be able to knock out the bulk of the really steep stuff that we have left with the machines.

We will have to do corridor clearing prior to the machines coming in. Then we will hand finish the trail once the machine has created the initial bench cut. This will save us a ton of labor. I can hear our backs thanking us already!!

I was thinking about trail work the whole time I was at my other meeting. Drove by Lower Afton about 8:15. Thought maybe I could get in on the after work conversations, but didn't.

That is great the machines will be able to do a lot of the hard labor. Happy backs make better riding. I was at BC on Sunday, so it will be neat to see the change after a lot of the overgrown stuff is now gone.
