I currently ride a Jamis Dakar XC Comp and am on my second rear swing arm and I just broke that AGAIN, I am now going on to my third one.(and yes Jamis is replacing JUST the swing arm..... again) so I will be with no bike for 1 week or so (again) I would not recommend buying a Jamis
I may be in the market for a new frame (that I can afford ) I was looking at the SETTE riddick (from price point) All of my components will fit this frame, has anyone heard of it? Any info would be helpful. It looks like a decent affordable frame.

Opinions?

How did you break them?

I haven't heard a lot of bad things about Jamis but haven't necessarily gone searching for the information either. What do the folks over on MTBR have to say?

The first one I was riding down a hill and it broke and the second I was at leb and bunnyhopped about a 6" log. I personaly know 2 other people with same bike different years and they have each broke theres as well.
Some of the people at mtb review have broke theres as well. But over all the bike rated it ok.
there were only six reviews on the riddick and they all rated it good.

Are you using disc or rim brakes?

Hopefully Superclydesdale weighs in here...I think he's on his 3rd swingarm. Where did it break?

Having a company tell you there frame is bombproof does not really mean all that much to me any more. Proof is in actually knowing clydes who ride and don't have issues with there frame. If you can hold off and wait for a bit and save a few more bucks I can help you out with a more rugged frame without a significant weight penilty. Think that Soupboy can vouch for Ventana frames along with a few others on this forum.

there swing arms had some sort of problem but after 06 they fixed it and i havent heard of any one breaking 06+ frames, so you should be fine

This last swing arm was supposed to be the "new and improved" and it was different from the first. They said that I was the first one to break one of the new style.
But moving on I do think I will wait on a new frame until I can afford somthing better.

Ok so I finaly got ahold of Jamis about my frame and they actually stepped up and are replacing my frame with an o6 XLT 3.0 frame & shock.
We will see how this one holds up.

I had the Sette Reken HT frame and it was nice. Honestly, the welds and finish were WAY better than I thought they'd be. Fairy light too. Can't say anything about the Riddick but if it's equal quality to the Reken, it's a good deal.

I have an 06 xc comp and I'm on my second rear triangle but in all fairness I did drift into a tree bending my triangle which should damage any xc frame. Otherwise I love my jamis and I doubt that you broke it "bunnyhopping 6 inches" because I can bunnyhop a road bike that high and not break it  so I'm pretty sure that you must have stressed the frame in some way before. Also just to note they sent me the new rear triangle under warrenty in a week which I personally think is amazing customer service considering I definetly crashed it into a tree.

Good luck with your o6,mine was the 05 and the customer service rep at Jamis said they "should have solved there problem on the 06 model" and yeah your probably right as far as the frame being stressed earlier.Hopefully you don't have to replace any more down the line.Have you had to replace anything else on your bike?
