This made the citypages A-List for the week, and yet I've haven't seen mention of it anywhere on the forums yet. Bikers, unite!!
BIKE-IN AT THE BELL
Saturday, June 16, 2 p.m.–midnight
Bell Museum courtyard (U of M Campus)
http://bellmuseum.org/bike-in/index.html
$8, $5 if you ride your bike
The third annual Bike-In at the Bell brings together bicycle enthusiasts, transportation advocates, environmental groups, artists, and community leaders for a celebration of people-powered transportation. Part community education fair, part family picnic, Bike-In at the Bell is a chance for adults and children to learn about how their transportation choices can positively impact their environment and community. Learn about local bike organizations and bike friendly businesses; find out how to navigate bike trails across the state; play fun, bike-themed carnival games; and decorate your bike for an art bike parade. These games, activities, and workshops will be followed by an evening program that will include a bike fashion show and an outdoor film screening.
Here's the A-List preview from Citypages...
There's a lot to love about a bicycle festival. Not least of which is communing with like-minded souls who won't return a blank stare when you extol the finer points of offsetting your carbon footprint with wind turbines in New Zealand. But the giddiness of thumbing your nose at gas pumps isn't the only reason to attend Bike-In at the Bell this Saturday at the Bell Museum of Natural History. If you spent last winter customizing your cycle—be it bi, tri, uni, or other—this is the place to show it off. But even if you don't roll on a tricked-out ride, there's plenty going on for bike enthusiasts of every stripe, including a scavenger hunt, art show, concessions from bicycle-friendly vendors, and a late-night showing of Rad, arguably the sweetest bike movie of all time. $8; $5 with bike. 2:00 p.m. to midnight.
