to any coggs members out there,
i have camped at mont du lac the night before the race in years past. just wondering if that is still allowed, how much it costs, and can we have campfires (lots-o-carbs in beer and smores)? also, are we allowed to ride the course before the citizen race or after all the racing is done?
thanx,
schlemmin :D

Food and drink will be for sale on race day and primitive camping is available on-site. The course will be open for pre-riding to REGISTERED racers. The XC course in on PRIVATE PROPERTY and can ONLY be ridden on Tuesday night or on the race weekend. If you are in the area, come out and ride with the members of COGGS on the Tuesday ride.

Yeah, campin' there is the best. Fires are cool. Makes the beer taste better. Last year there were some that were trying to sleep (they came and told us, that's how I know) and others staying up and hangin' out. I think this year we'll try to get there early and designate the "sleeping" and "non-sleeping" areas.:D

I think this camping at the race site is a cool deal. I've added it to the R W race as well. Now if we could only get all the venues to support that.

Camping at Red Wing?!? Sweet! Now I can just stay down there after the DH instead of driving home and then back again!

Gus That would be great and perhaps increase riddership. Cheap accomodations that increase the experience are huge to some.
If I am going to travel an hour or more each way then I like to get more ridding in for that trip and this is a way to do just that. Joy ride/ pre ride saturday then less to do on sunday except race. NICE

I was just going to register the family for the Dirt Spanker Classic and there is no kids comp option on active.com for this race. All the other races I have registered for has had the kids comp option. I would rather not register day of because of the price difference. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry that we don't have our website updated, there will be onsite camping, and I know that in the past it's been $5 or something like that, so it could be a little more I'm not sure. The guy that owns the ski hill is always in charge of the camping stuff. The race times are 9:30 AM for citizen, 9:35 for the kids comp, 11:00 for Sport, and 1:00 for the expert/comp riders. Let me know if you have any more questions.
Ross

some info I received in a direct email.

HI Guys, Could anyone impart their wisdom on this course? Never been there but plan to give it a shot on Sunday. Big Climbs/Flat, tight/open, Singletrack or a lot of double. Just curious and thought others might be too. Thanks for any insight? Mat

There is one big continuous climb each lap. otherwise it is mostly tight, twisty, rooted singletrack all the way around. Also a good downhill as well. It is a fun course.

Hi Stephanie

Taylor is going to race Kids Comp this week. The plan is to have her race Kids comp from here on out, we thought Afton might be a little too difficult for her. We will also be there Saturday to pre-ride, I'm not sure when though. However, we are not going to camp.

We'll talk to you soon
