Spin Rims Repair

I have an old set of spin rims for my late 90's gary fisher joshua "y" mtb. a couple years ago the bike got stored in a garage that flooded and the moisture caused the braking surface to start flaking off. Spin has since gone outta business I believe. Does anybody have any suggestions on a company that might be able to resurface the brake surface? My son insists on keeping these rims and I would rather he be safe than sorry.
