IF I get my other Hutchinson Python from Performance, I'll let you know what I think. They're supposed to be good on Leb style trails.
Take a look at Continental Explorer Pro's. I used them for several years until going to a wider tire and wished they made them in a 2.35 size. Colorado Cyclist and WheelWorld have them for $39.99.

Have a set of explorer pros that I'd part with for 20 bucks. Also would second the Small block 8 very fast rolling at leb. Best tire I've ridden out at Leb and BC to date have been the Maxxis Larsen TT. Quick like the SB8 and stick to the rocks and roots as well.

I'll vote for Kenda Small Block 8's for the fastest rolling with the only downfall of not hooking up that well on the rocks. Kenda Karmas are another good option.

What about the Lopes Blingbling? They're cheap and sound like a good tire.

If you like a small block tire, I would recommend
Houffalize Pro 2Bliss Tire /by specialized
This fast tire is designed to hook up in slightly muddy conditions. Its narrow casing and tread design allow the tire to cut through the thin layers of mud, and bite into the hard pack underneath. Tightly spaced directional knobs ensure speed, while allowing the tire to self-clean in the worst of conditions.
I rode these at Steeplechase and they worked in the mud just fine.

Specialized "Fast-Track" which is higher volume, aka wider tire and has decent edge grip, and low rolling resistance. Erik's has them if you wanna check it out.
