View Full Version : Steeple-Chase Race Sunday June 3rd

Get ready for the second race of the MNSCS series at Steeplechase Ski Area. The trails are in excellent shape. New single track has been added to all the race courses, and after many requests the Zumbro Zipper was added to the Sport, Comp, and Expert courses.

Any updates on the race courses? I'm thinking of entering and this would be my first race. I'm definately not in any shape to be competitive but I'm wondering what class I should enter. I don't want to miss any of the good singletrack and the maps had me confused about the different courses.

Go ahead and enter, since you are just starting your racing career, maybe enter the citizen class for now, maybe sport class depending on what shape you are in. Either class you should be fine in.

Most importantly have fun! Citizen & Sport class seem to be more fun anyway.

I haven't looked at the maps but I know you have a good knowledge of the trail system out there so I will give you the course differences. Citizen will do the top half of the singletrack and then do the slalom course down the zumbro zipper and then do the new river loop singletrack at the bottom. The sport course will do the same thing but then add the big climb up from zumbro zipper and back into the second half of the singletrack. So the Sport course will feature all of the singletrack but two big climbs more than the citizen course.

Well the climbs are my weak spot, but I really don't want to miss any of the singletrack stuff.

Is the expert class the only ones doing the loop out by chair 1?

No one will be doing the expert DH during the race.
