Any recommendations for a good tire that can do double duty(well) for trails and the road? I can inflate and deflate as necessary but my all-trail tires just don't cut it for the road.

Hutchinson Pythons work well for a dual-duty tire. Or you could go with a more "BMX-like" tire like the Maxxis Holy Rollers.

I have been using WTB All-Terrainasaurus (-es?)on my patrol bike for about 8 years. First pair has yet to wear out, although they are going to be replaced in the next few weeks. They still have tread after over 2000 miles on and off-pavement.

Ride safe,

I like my Kenda Karmas too but they are a little thin but very light too.

Most modern hardpack tires roll very well on the pavement, especially when run at more then 50 psi. There are a few good options in the casual/touring range that have a lot more tread and will last longer, but they will be heavier and may not provide as much traction as a light hardpack tire. I would look at the Michelin Dry2, the Specialized Fast Trak LK (low knob) or the Maxxis Crossmark. They all roll fast and have good off-road grip. They are high performance tires, so you won't get the mileage that you would from a touring/rec tire.

My Bontrager Revolt Super X tires roll quickly on concrete at 50+ psi and still provide plenty of grip at 35-40 psi on the trail.

I've been using a pair of Continental Twister Supersonics pumped at 80lbs for road use. A nice ultra-light tire that works well both on and off road. Don't expect high milage out of them..

Kenda Small Block Eight--lightweight, good rounded profile, dual compound, can run at 40 psi for both road and trail with little resistance/road noise, and sticks corners on both concrete and dirt. John Tomac recommended as well :eyeroll:
