So now that the days are getting longer I figure it's a good time to invest in a new light.

I have some gift certificates for REI so I am looking at three different models: Blackburn X3, Light and Motion Solo, and a Cygolight XM Nitro. Does anyone have any experience with any of the three? Any feedback would be appreciated.

I have a Cygolite, not an X3, just a little handlebar mount that I found on clearance and its awesome, supposed to be for commuting but you can use it on the trail and it lasts for like 10 hours. My 2 cents.:alien:

I use the XM Nitro as my helmet mount, and also have a Cygolite NightRover NiMH Xtra on the bars.

I can't tell from your question if you plan to have multiple lights. I think that as a solo light, the XMNitro would maybe be a little weak for brightness. However as a helmet mount paired with another bar-mount light, it's worked really well for me.

No problems at all with either of my Cygolites, I'd buy their stuff again.

I have another 10 watt light that I can only mount on the bars (dropped and broke the helmet mount). I figured if one light wouldn't cut it I would use both.

I've found that 10 watts are usually enough light for me. This is especially true when riding in front of Bob.:)
