View Full Version : Bob's broken parts thread
OK, second day of riding in Fruita/Front Range.
Bob's Tally so far:
- he smoked a pretty much new rear Phil Wood hub
- race face cranks with a "wobble" that won't go away.
Tomorrow is a new day!

If it's only the drive side that's got the wobble, it's probably the spline. I had the spline wear out on my deus from the first production year. From what I've heard, they don't have that problem any more. I recomend going through the shop where it was purchased for warranty, as it seems race face does not deal directly with customers, but is very responsive to dealers.
Have fun breaking more stuff!
Will put a call in to Philwood, PM shipping address while in Frutia.
Sounds like Bob needs to consider a Heavy Duty King or I9 hub.

Which model hub (geared or SS) and crankset were they?

I was waiting for this thread. The hub is a gearie.

$20.00 says that he blows his frame again.:D
$20.00 says that he blows his frame again.:D
That is not very nice.
Figure that if Bob can't break it the rest of us are safe. ;)
Bob, know of one hub that can withstand about 760lb of force before the body freewheel will shear. Drive is still intact after the test. Their claim is that "this is more force than any human can generate and confident that no one will break their hubs" :alien:

Day 3 was spent on Porcupine rim. Even with moves like this (see below), no parts were broken. Notice the fork bottoming out and the rim making contact with rock.....
Will report back after tomorrow's ride. Hopefully Bob will represent!
