My wife and I are planning on relocating from Sandy, Utah to Winona (just one wife.) I'm wondering if there is a crew of riders that go out routinely in the area. I ride both mtb and road.
I heard a rumor that Scott Shurhammer might live in those parts anyone?
Patrick.

you are picking a nice spot to move to, while it is no utah Winona has very nice mountain biking at holzinger and with red wing, LX HPT, Decorah and levis all close enough for a quick day trip I would agrue that Winona may be the best MTB spot in the state. Adventure cycle is the main MTB shop in town and they have Group ride info at- http://advcycle.com/page.cfm?PageID=37 I'm not sure if it is still accurate, but if all else fails just stop in there. If you are ever riding RW (1hr from Winona) feel free to PM me.

Holzinger is definately a hoot. I love that top loop. It is so fast and the few jumps (can always use more) are fun. And yes Red Wing is awesome too. I know a bit bias but what the hell.
Later peeps.

I went to college and winona and starting my mt. biking addiction there. It is by far my favorite place to ride in the state. Lots of climbing, great singletrack, long rolling singletrack downhills. Make sure you hook up with some locals as the trails are not well marked, but after a ride or two you will know your way around.

Swing into Adventure Bike and Ski and inquire about WAMB (Winona Area Mountain Bikers). Back when I was going to school they had their official group rides on Wednesday nights. They usually had a 10+ turnout each night.

We're looking forward to slowing down a bit, get her family close. I'm happy about Winona, it seems there will be plenty to ride and people to ride with.
btw, I told Dan about trying to keep up with you last summer- he just got a Mariachi 29".

Scott- Thanks for the info on the Winona area. I'm looking forward to meeting a new crew of riders.
I read about Art Crank on your blog. A good friend had some art on display. I'm wondering if you know him, the world is pretty small as I'm finding out. http://www.douglasallandesign.com/

No problem. I've always wanted to get a group ride down at Zinger since I think about 75 percent of the people on this board have never ridden what is probably one of the best trails in the state. Weekends are in short supply though.
I can say I say I know doug but I did have a blast at the opening party. I'm hoping that a lot of my posters get sold because I'm donating all profit to MORC.

Keep your eyes peeled for saturday winona excursions. We went several times last year. We would leave around 8:30 am, drive, ride, eat/hang out, drive back.. usually home by 5'ish.
I usually have room for 2 or 3 more people for those that wish to hitch a ride.

Home by five? That's not hardly enough time to get rid of the buzz I'll have from all the cheap there is to be drunk.

The Human Powered Trails in La Crosse are nice, real nice. To have to decide between Zinger and LaX would make many a person go nuts.
