I thinking of getting a bike fit and wondering who's good in town. It would be for a street bike.

As Chris D. pointed out in a prior thread my body aint what it used to be.

I've heard good things about Freewheel's bike fit service. Never actually had one done myself, but I've seen other people getting it done. You can always go into any shop that offers the service and ask them questions about it for free. I would choose one that gives you what seems to be good answers to your questions, and is willing to take the time to "sell" you on their service.

You may want to check out Chris at the St. Louis Park Eriks location. He is very good.....

I assume you're talking road fit vs. mtn fit?

I've heard good things about the guy at Erik's St. Louis Park location. His name is Chris Balser, he works there part-time and only does bike fittings. I would assume it's by appointment only.

i'll second that.

I'd only get fit by Hollywood himself though.

I had set up a fitting with Hollywood, but he was out of town when the time came and I ended up getting fit by a different employee of his who he said was qualified, but it didn't turn out so good. I ended up having to adjust most of the things myself.

I've done fittings with Mark at Freewheel (mtb), Hollywood (cx), and Jason at Excel (mtb) and would recommend any of them. Some places have different price-point levels of fit sessions so think about what you want beforehand. Good luck.

I was fit for my road bike by someone at Flanders about five years ago and I was very happy with what I got. They used a Serotta Size Cycle. I ended up with a list of all of the bike measurements that you could think of that were specific for me. It all depends on what you are looking for - for example if you are looking for measurements so that you can have a custom frame built or if you just want to know what size frame will fit you from the brand of bike that shop sells. I would recommend something like I got - then pick a manufacturer that matches those numbers the closest.

If you can get to the Vadnais Heights Erik's I can help you out with road or mountain. Otherwise Chris Balser at Erik's in St. Louis Park (apt only) is the man and a half.

Dan Casebeer at Grand Performance has been at it for years. Right down to the angle that your foot contacts the pedal.

Thanks Clayton.

We also have the cyclepath fit system.

I think that is what Chris B. uses at Erik's in SLP. I hear he is also really good.

Hollywood. A computer based system can get you close, but I've seen some really wack numbers generated by those. Human interaction will get the best results. Support the "little guy", H-Wood is a true independant bicycle shop and will most definitely go further than most to make customers happy. If his fittings are good enough for Jason McCartney and Becky Lavelle, I think his are good enough for us mortal cyclists.
