I bought a Dos Niner frame. Before i build it up i see the price on the Redline frame and fork is $199.98 on Pricepoint. Im just thinking about selling the Dos Niner frame and put the money on something else.

I've heard stories about and Redlines being built as Cross Bikes and 29ers back and forth. Is this true?

How is the warranty on the Redline?
Is the weight like 6 pounds on a 20" frame?

thanks..

The Redline Monocog 29er isnt a bad entry level bike. On the full build, the components are far from quaility due to the price point they have the complete bike at. As for the frame, they have had some problems with cracking. Of the three we sold last year, 2 of them had to be sent in for warranty because the frames cracked under normal riding conditions. There was also an issue with headsets not fitting the head tubes properly. I believe that issue was resolved for the new production though. As far as weight goes, they are a little heavy because of the fact that it isnt a high end frame. As I said before, its an entry level bike. Its perfect for someone who wants to get a feel for a 29er. If you have been riding one, it will most likely not be the quality you would want. Why do you want to get rid of the Dos Niner?

There are two versions of Redline Monocog frames for 2007. The Monocog and Monocog flight. The base Monocog is heavier and all straight guage tubing. The flight is a much higher end chromoly steel and double butted. So make sure you know what you are buying before you throw money at it.

I thought the Flight was the aluminum version. Oh well. I CAN say that the 26er Monocog I got back in '02 has held up well, despite the lower end components. This includes riding it hard on Arizona terrain for the first year and a half of ownership. It's a tank, but a sturdy one and I'm in no hurry to get rid of it for something swankier.

I'm not saying its a bad bike. I was just pointing out that you get what you pay for.

No worries, Porter. I didn't take it that way.

Pre-2007.....yes it is. But who wants to ride a fully rigid aluminum bike....ouch.

Yeah, ouch. I raced on a full rigid aluminum Barracuda once years ago with the old Spinergy carbon wheels because my rigid steel Trek was getting overhauled (and I was pimping the bike and wheels for my buddy's shop). Never again. Ever.

Muchas Gracias for the feedback. I just wanted to get rid of the dos niner to put the money on wheels/stem/seatpost. But it seems its not worth it. I have heard of the Monocog 29er' frames and the price was too good to be true. I don't want to risk riding it as my 12 and 24hr race bike. Thanks for your honesty on the frame cracking of the frame.

I will stick to the dosniner. . And thanks to all for the feedback as always.

I will just build the dos as a SS and let's see what goes.
