Any suggestions on a saddle? I had a Speed V and now am on a Serfas RX which suprisingly hurts!(?) Thinking of another Speed unless anyone has another opinion of a good cozy butt rest...

I like the comfort of a Koobi, but they don't hold up off road. Now I use a Fizik Gobi. It's alright.

Saddles are about as personal as bike parts get (other than your chamois). Many people I know of have had very good success with the various iterations of WTB "V" saddles. I've run them exclusively for several seasons on many different bikes.
Right now I'm waiting on this:

Just to try something different. There was an excellent group-buy deal on the MTBR 29er forum.

Cozy saddle....Hmmmm bar stool comes to mind - put one of them on your bike! You will definatly get looks and comments.
Seriously- one size does not fit all when it comes to saddles as well as if you have it mounted/ adjusted correctly. Think of Shoes- buy what fits your body, your need and your comfort zone.
Yes that is an interesting saddle and may be the ticket for some. It looks to fit the racer or city commuter. It is interesting but I wonder a few things.
* might be a little less than desired for the epic or non hard core ridders
*Weight, for those who care looks middle of the road for active ridders.
*Hopefully the cut out will tend to recede as it breaks in leaving a nice custom fit channel for the tender loin
* A little KIWI once in a while and that cover will look good and outlast the undercarriage.
* no woirries if and or when you go down and scuff an ege. No rips or tears....maybe a little emory cloth would be all that is needed to smoth out the rough edge and your comfortably back on the trail.
Post again as it breaks in, that one will take a while longer that most but I am interested in it. ( heard second hand- one WTB rep said it may take up to 30 hours or so for some of there saddles to break in nicely.
Currently I too have sucum to the WTB line. Do keep in mind your pressure points, cockpit set, and ride style may be different than others.
At your LBS or online you can find out the multitude of dimentions offered by WTB.
Not that WTB is the best but be aware of size for fit and feel for your own ride feel and needs. Do note that on a Road bike you will expose the soft tissue to more abuse than a mountain bike. Either way take interest in some form of a cut out. Be it completly cut out a channel or modified cut out base shell combo. Padding.....if saddle is not correct for your size then it may not be as comfy as it looks.
How far apart are your sit bones? Try before you buy if possible. There are many good saddles out there but one size does not fit all, especially if you ride alot.
Correct me if wrong but I believe Freewheel bike shop has a nice set up for you to sit on many different saddles they offer. Other shops too may be able to accommodate you.
I have found that Brooks saddles are very comfy (once broken in). It will take approx. 100 miles before it is truely formed to your behind but once it does they are great.
If you want to stick with modern saddles then I have several flites that you could try. Think that I have a TT, Gel, SLR, and Ti versions laying around. For Brooks I know I have a few Swifts and Swallows.

I agree that saddles are very personal...
One personal experience: I was test driving a road bike, the stock saddle seemed a little hard, so I had the sales person change it.. The softer seat changed the geometry enough to make the bike uncomfortable.
Moral of the story, softer is NOT better.. I see alot of people make this mistake.
I use the seats with the groove in the middle on all my bikes, I find that it really works to eliminate that Scary numbness in the crotch.

Another vote for the WTBs, I've had really good luck with these, but it all kind of depends on the size of you TAINT I guess.
WTB Laser V's make my behind very happy. :)

I wish Koobi didn't have the patent on the split nose, or would at least lease it out to other manufacturers. I like the design, just need it to be able to last more than 3 months. :banghead:

Saddles are the HARDEST thing to get right on a bike. Most people dont even give them a proper chance before they take it off and give up. My advice would be to try the following.
1) Wear bike shorts.
2) Get at least 200 miles on the saddle before you say you hate it. You have
to break the saddle into you and break yourself into it.
3) Remeber to STAND UP every so often, keep that blood flowing, even with
the "perfect" saddle your body will love you more if you stand every so
often.
4) Try different angles, nose up or nose down a bit, change things up, but
give each an honest chancew before saying you dont like it.
If you get a new saddle, less material is often more comfortable, but this is also different for everyone. You can also get measured for Specialized saddles and find out what size you would be best suited for. Its worth a try.
That being said, I've been riding the saddle Sean pictured for years and love it, but then again whats right for me might not be right for everyone else and the other way around. Just be patient and open and give things a try.

I actually applied for that job but my background as a Bra Consultant at Victoria's Secret blew it for me as they wouldn't believe that I really was an a** man. :p

I have found that for ME, the Terry Fly saddles work the best.
All the other saddle that I tried before led to numbness in my legs after about 30 minutes.
I have them on all the bikes now and have a couple extra upstairs in case I pull the rails out of the nose of another one by landing on the tail of it as I drop sideways 3 feet off of the log at memorial.
