I realize this is a ways from you, but, it's an excellent place to ride... They have a low-key race/ride/festival there on August 25th, It's a Terrific Trail, Camping & swiming. www.camdenclassic.net (http://www.camdenclassic.net)

Look up "The Bike Shop" in Marshall.

Closer to you, try Okoboji Expedition Company: http://expeditionco.com ... Don't know much about them, but they should be able to hook you up with a place to ride.

Also, check: http://trails.mtbr.com/

I grew up in Spirit Lake, I don't know any mountain bike trails anywhere in that area, but you could start some.

I know Jackson has some really nice elevation, you could have some SWEET trails there.
-Step One, Join MORC
-Step Two, contact the club Leadership.. Maybe establish a MORC chapter there.
-Step Three, P.M. me and I'll join you for a ride when I'm down visiting my Mom.

Happy Riding!

I don't know anything about Marshall, but Cenna at the expedition Co. should know what's being ridden around there if anyone does. However he's probably who you bought your rockhopper from (he's also the guy that sold me my rockhopper in '98) so I'd bet you already know him.

Ditto on riding down there if you get something together. Don't know what land is available in the Des Moines Valley, but I would think there'd be an interest in maybe trails by Esterville somewhere, Iowa DNR is abit more MTB friendly.

There is a little known off-road riding area just 30 miles west of Okoboji. Ocheyedan, IA has 3 places to catch some trails and a little singletrack. There is the Ocheyedan Pits, Ocheyedan Mound, and Willow Creek. If you stop by the bike shop right on Main St. in Ocheyedan called Ezekiel's Wheel they can point you in the right direction.
