Welcome to the "other" sports forum area. It was requested, so lets give it a try.
Basically discuss any sport that is not some form of mountain biking or road riding (those have other areas).
I don't know if its supposed to be limited to just outdoor activites or not. The idea was to pull some of the valuable discussion on other sports out of the non-biking forum area and give it a public home.
We'll see how it goes. If the forums turn into a massive discussion on college basketball or bowling we'll consider moving it back to the non-area.
Please don't forget this is a public area. It can be seen and searched by guests etc. The typical "non biking" forum freedom does not apply here. ;)

I also would hope you move it back to the non-area if a massive discussion on college hockey flares up! :D

That was the whole initial argument. I tend to think that the topics that are open by default should be mountain bike or biking related, but we're doing this as a test.
Hockey, Basketball, Football etc. might still be best discussed in the non-biking area. Adventure or outdoor sports might be tolerated more in the "Other Sports" area.
We'll see how it goes. If anyone else feels the same as Kurt feel free to post up.

What about using something more specific than "other sports" for a title?
The title "Running/Skiing Forum" would cover it, right?
Everything else would go under the "non-biking" category.

I'd go as far as saying maybe making it an "Outdoors Sports" forum or something (camping/skiing/running/hiking/climbing/etc.). This might fit in more with the other main forums. I can see how piles of stuff about college sports, the Twins, Vikings, etc. could end up just annoying those who want to focus on biking.
Or just moving these topics to the non-biking discussion area. Either way is cool.

I kind of agree with making other sports more for the other outdoor sports. College and professional sports should be talked about in the non-biking discussion. If someone starts a post talking about lets say.....college hockey :eyeroll: in the other sports section I'll still take part in the discussion. But IMO, I really feel like it should be in non-biking. :etard:

Agreed. I don't take part in this area at this piont. However if it turns into a college hockey party I wouldn't start either. Sorry to use college hockey as the bastard child but that was the one most mentioned.

Its tourney time, so its definitely a hot topic. As much as I am interested in it I'd just as well see it not be dominating the message boards either. If a sport like baseball starts to come up I'll have to

I hear ya there. I never was much of a fan for the big four in team sports. Don't get me started on golf. It has it's own damn network. Outrage. I protest. And any a$$clown that want's to qualify that as a "SPORT", go choke on a 9n iron. Sorry all I just had to vent. I feel better now.

I think its a sport, but I sure wouldn't call golfers athletes. You can almost put it into the same category as darts, bowling and pool.:etard:

Sorry guys. I just can't see it. The one time I was dupt into trying golf I actully had a lady roll up in a golf cart to take our drink orders. Cool idea but, definately not a sport.
I'd rather see posts about college hockey than road biking. I agree it all should be in its own areas away from mountain biking. The road races in other countries in the mountain bike racing forum still doesn't make sense to me.
