Hey guys, been a while since I've been here! I FINALLY picked up some parts for the Trek Y3 (stuff that can be transferred when I buy a new bike) - got some Crank Bros Egg Beater pedals and Specialized shoes, big Specialized tires and a new saddle.

A lot of people tell me to ditch the Y3. I know, there are much better bikes out there now (LOVE the new Stumpies), but I really like my Y3. Would it be possible to upgrade the rear shock to something that has some rebound damping? I'd also like to replace the front fork with something a little better. I'm not looking to spend tons of money, but some decent upgrades. Here's a pic of the bike setup now:

If you like the you like the bike!Who cares what anyone else thinks, its the rider not the bike!

Check the classifieds here and E-bay and some of the swap meets coming up and you should be able to find some cheap parts.

Cane Creek makes rear shox to fit almost any length. You could easily find one with some rebound, plus it would be an air shock so it would lighten the bike up a bit. The front fork should be replaceble with any of the 80mm travel forks on the market. I had the same indy fork on an older bike of mine and when I measured the drop out to crown height I found it to be the same as most of the 80mm travel forks on the market.

The Cane Creek Cloud-9 may fit. You need to find out your stroke length, and the eye-eye length. I know they don't fit shocks to as many bikes as they used to. Now you have to buy the shock, and possibly a hardware kit. Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tips, guys. I actually ended up selling the Trek (tear) and bought a Jamis Dakar XC Comp. Love the new bike!!!
