Just finish patent pending process which gives me one year patent pending on snowbike kit,, well three designs of it anyway,, may be more added once production model is complete and should be able to have up to 20 year patent on it!! Working on web site now which will be 4Dsnowbike.com should be up and running in a few days!! Haven't figured out how to post pics here so will have to wait and check out web site,, will have videos!! hoping sales will be possible for winter riding for winter of 07/08.. and may be have demo rides this year at Afton Alps spring fling,, March 17,, going to see how it water skips,, :jumpy: I also hope to be able to make expedition run with it at coffee mill race,, still on prototype,, production model is a few weeks out,,

Its different than those snow bikes its using attachments(boards) to your own bike. This video doesn't do it much justice because its taken with a camera phone but check it out!

That thing looks like it works pretty good and fast too! I hope I get to see it in action on Saturday. :)

Cool. Can't wait to see closeups of how they attach to the fork and frame.

Have you seen the one that replaces the rear wheel with a track? It's like a 2-4" wide snowmobile track that you can actually pedal. Saw one in Popular Mechanics or some other rag. Anyone?

I have a question. I understand the concept which is cool but I am concerned about the depth of the rear wheel protruding through. If the rear wheel is limited to the depth wouldnt it be easy to spin the rear wheel in powder and lose traction in deep snow? Or does the rear wheel float to different depths to gain traction?

Its adjustable...Darin can explain it better.....

Does it clamp on the magnesium lowers of the fork (above the dropouts)?

The photos here and on web site are just of prototype,, the production model is going to have a whole new look and with many up grades.. A few are inserts for tire slot which will make it a down hill powder dream!! and a quick adjust tire depth both front and rear.. and remember snow depth does determine ability to pedal your crank,, I do have an electric version in mind with a different type of rear design but that is a ways off so just hang tight and Mountain bikes will be unstoppable!! I am most excited about this ones carving and slalom abilities,,Also has great balance gains for slow deep snow,, no more slow down hill winter riding for this bike!! Its landing off jumps are simply unbelievable almost if not better than on the dirt,, if you do land off balance it grabs an edge and give you time to bring it back!! not to say it is uncrashable but I haven't taken a spill on it yet at least while under own power!! towing can add more speed than desired,, but crashes in snow are way softer and thats a good thing!! Cant wait to get it to the mountains!!! :jumpy:  :jumpy:

This might be a dumb question, but how do you plan on stopping after getting going? Or safety measures, I know that most ski hills are going to require you have a leash or brake system to get on their slopes. Any plans for anything like that?

I got a chance to ride it on Sat. night and I have to say that it was a blast! It took me about a run and a half to get a good feel for how it handles. It definitely has potnetial.

Both Porter and Katie figured out how to stop on their first runs. :D

As for a leash or brakes, I don't think a run-away bike is going far on it's own because of bars and pedals. If a leash is required, i would just mount a retractable dog leash to the seatpost and clip to the rider somewhere.

I didn't try it because I had ski boots and it just seemed like a bad idea but it really rocked.
I've seen the ski-bikes and they just seem to lack something in comparison.

The race results don't tell the real story because Darin passed on the chance to race Thor for the win but his advantage got more as the track fell apart.
