Hells yeah! I usually keep their Bubblejack IPA on tap in my bar. It is a damn tasty beverage.

Now I need to convince the wife that we do not need to go to her folks house for Easter that weekend:jumpy:.

The ARTCRANK site is alive!

http://www.artcrankpostershow.com

To follow up on an earlier post,$10 for every copy of the ARTCRANK show poster (http://www.morcmtb.org/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=3929&size=big&cat=500&ppuser=24) sold during the show will be donated to MORC. I've encouraged other artists and designers to do the same, so hopefully we can use this event raise a little capital.

In any case, I hope you'll join us on Saturday, April 7 to enjoy some great artwork, food, drinks, music and whatever shenanigans might follow.

I'm thinking that this post should maybe get moved from "Non-Biking Discussion" to "General Discussion." I know that not everyone has access to the Non-Biking Threads. Plus...

It's about a bike-related topic.
It's an event that takes place at a bike shop.
Featuring posters that are all about bikes.
Almost all of which were created by people who avid-to-rabid bikers.
For the enjoyment of people who are avid-to-rabid bikers.
And has the potential to benefit a bike-focused organization.

Also, there's beer, which seems to be an acceptable synonym for "bike" hereabouts.

Can I get a ruling from a moderator?
Can I get a witness?

Ya know part of me hopes that I can have a glass of this:

http://www.rushriverbeer.com/images/RRipa.jpg

BubbleJack IPA: One of our favorite styles, this ale is a hop explosion. Light in color, heavily hopped in the kettle as well as conditioned with several unique hop varieties. This creates a beautiful floral/citrusy nose which is balanced well by a smooth and full finish. 6.0% ABV.

But since I've never had it part of me wants to try some of this:

http://www.rushriverbeer.com/images/RRambernew.gif

The Unforgiven Amber Ale: Our flagship beer is 5.8% ABV. Deep amber in color, and slightly cloudy, this beer is remarkably smooth. We "dry-hop" this ale in the conditioning tank meaning fresh hops are added after fermentation to steep and add a subtle fruity nose. The yeast for this beer was custom created and cultured for us by a lab in Oregon, insuring a one-of-a-kind experience found in no other micro.

What kind of beer will it be? Well ya just gotta show up to find out. Not to mention see some really cool art work from local artists and you can support MORC all at the same time. I'd call that a "win, win, win" solution.

I plan to be there....

and actually already have a date lined up for it....

Not sure how smart of idea that is but we shall see....

syntaxjunkie
03-16-2007, 10:21 AM
dates are always a good idea.

dates who like to drink beer are a better idea.

dates who are willing to drive so that you can drink more beer are a very good idea.

dates who like you more when you've been drinking beer are probably the best idea of all. but they're an urban legend, like gargantuan alligators that live in the sewers. either that or a figment of your beer-fueled imagination.

my date is going to show up for the first part of the party, but is planning to ditch me to drive to fargo. i'm having a hard time not taking that personally.

You guys don't know how much I'm looking forward to this. Graphic Design/Biking/Beer are basically my 3 vices. Scott, some of your photos are on display (for sale)? That's awesome! I'll see you all there. I've never been to One-on-One before *here it comes...SMACK!*....but I've dealt with Geno before. Let me know if you need transportation and you live by lake Calhoun. I can fit four.:)

I created a poster for the show and it will be available for sale (all profits from my poster sale will be donated right to M.O.RC). Though having visited most of the other artists websites I think my poster is going to be blown away :D. There are some seriously talented artists involved.

syntaxjunkie
03-16-2007, 12:01 PM
collin, i didn't know you were a design junkie. we'll have to put you on the roster for next year's show.

seriously, i was planning on having 15, maybe 20 people in the show. right now, i have at least 35. apparently, there's some serious cross-over between people who design stuff and people who ride bikes.

and having seen about half of the posters so far, it's going to be a gorgeous, rollicking, schizophrenic whirl of great art. which is exactly how it looked in my head. only better.

btw, $10 from every sale of this poster (http://www.morcmtb.org/photopost/showphoto.php?photo=3929&size=big&cat=500&ppuser=24&sl=s) will also go to MORC.

several of the artists are making similar donations. check the order form on opening night of the show for details.

That would rock to be in this show next year! (maybe Scott'll pair up with me and let me use some of his Kickarse photos!;))
Can't wait to see the art!

Not to hijack this thread but how many of you MORC'ers are designers?

syntaxjunkie

Boing!

Just wanted to give this once a bounce, now that we're less than a week away from the big opening.

Good news:
Check out the love ARTCRANK is getting from MORC friends and sponsors Twin Six (http://www.twinsix.com). And while you're there, buy a Riders Unite shirt (http://www.twinsix.com/gear/gear_t607t11.htm)– every purchase helps out MORC.

Better news:
A number of the artists participating in the show have offered to donate some or all of their profits to MORC, and Gene Oberpriller of One On One is going to donate $1 for every poster sold to MORC.

With 38 artists in the show, I hope this will really add up. If you show up with a dozen of your closest friends and buy some locally produced, made-by-bikers-for-bikers art to spruce up your place, it will.

Want to know more? Consult the ARTCRANK web site (http://www.artcrankpostershow.com).

any idea how long this will go on for? Thanks:)

syntaxjunkie
04-06-2007, 01:01 PM
we'll start at 7:00 and carry on until:

(a) the wee small hours. in fact the hours will be so wee and small that you'll need a microscope to see them.

(b) the cows come home, get fattened up, slaughtered, sliced, slapped on the grill, seared to a delicate medium-rare and then gnawed down to the bone.

(c) the sun comes up, the cops show up, the place blows up or enough people throw up.

(d) all of the above.

the correct answer is most likely d.

well, given that we went through 5 kegs in under 5 hours, i'd say it worked pretty well.

sorry you couldn't make the party, tom. but do get over there and check out the posters. the work will be up through the end of the month.

and to all of the MORC folks who made it last night, thanks for coming. we had a great turnout (around 500 people), sold a ton of posters, and raised a little legal tender for MORC in the process.

just a reminder: a number of artists are making donations to MORC with every poster purchase. get down to one on one, pick some amazing original artwork, and help support your favorite mountain bike advocacy organization.

Was that your invention? The rim and bike tire tapper? If so, nice! I commented to the guy serving up the beer how cool that was. I thought it was just something that One on One had all times. You should sell those to all the shops around here!

I wish I could've made it... wrap party??

Are there plans to make it an annual event??

thanks for the kind words, pete. and yeah, great pics, scott. you must be a professional or something. ;-) it was quite a night.

on the annual event question: yes. absolutely, positively, 100% yes. in fact, saturday night, gene-o was talking about doing another show in the fall. so the next one might be even sooner.

wrap party? sounds like an interesdting notion. we'd talked a little about an artists-only thing on april 28th, but who knows where that might go. stay tuned...

and if you haven't go down to one on one and see the show. it'll be up through the end of the month.

ARTCRANK WRAP PARTY

We'll get things started at about 7:00 p.m. and carry on for as long as possible.

Spread the words amongst family, friends and amiable strangers. No reason this one shouldn't be at least as big as the opening.

And hey, check out pics from the Opening Party here (http://www.artcrankpostershow.com/archive.htm). <tt>

Wanted to bump this up again – just a reminder that the ARTCRANK Wrap Party goes down tonight at One On One, starting at 7:00.

Spend the day outside appreciating the art of singletrack at the trail of your choice. Then head down to the warehouse district to appreciate the art of the bicycle at One On One.

And appreciate a cold beverage or two, perhaps.

See ya there.
