Anyone know of any internet mapping deal that lets one plan a road bike route from start to finish. Someting that traces the route and tells mileage is what im looking for.

Thanks!

gmap works good. TrailRunner (http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/28079) is a free Mac program. I couldn't find a Windows alternative.

Got 'xactly what you're looking for right here: http://www.routeslip.com/

It uses the Google maps window. Depending on your roads, it can be a bit tedious picking routes. For straighter stuff thought, its easy as pie!

Check out http://www.rydezilla.com/. They have route planning, map sharing, Google maps with GPS upload. The most interesting thing they have on other sites is 3D view see the elevation changes for a given trail.

I have only looked at the site a bit, so I cannot comment on overall functionality.

http://www.usatf.org/routes/ (http://www.usatf.org/routes/)

lets you trace the path you want. Tells you distance and amount of climbing.

This is great. I just entered my favorite ride. Was bummed to see it's only 7.8 miles. Then I clicked the elevation button and saw 580' of climbing. So now I know my mileage AND have high self-esteem.

Thanks for the tip.
