I don't have studded tires and I don't plan to get any, so you and I can be the lone non-studded tire riders! Also, I've been riding on the snow and ice without them, so it's doable.

I'm making a set of studded tires on Sunday which leaves me with an extra set. If anyone would ever like to borrow them; just let me know!

FYI, we rode leb today. I wasn't too crazy about the conditions and we decided not to ride sunday before the party. I'm NOT an experienced snow rider and i did have my studs on. I was all over the place and hiked my bike alot. I should've wore my snow shoes. :crazy: Once it gets packed in a bit more; it will be great. I'm not trying to discourage anyone from riding, just giving you my opinion. The more the trail gets rode the better.

Great ride today, everyone! Looking forward to the February ride, as I've committed to leading it, but for the remainder of the winter, I'm going to be focusing my weekend activities on charging the pistes (skiing), as nature intended! Unless a really cool ride comes up...

Yesss, it was slightly more then I bargained for! So this is what riding in the snow is all about. I would have loved a 20 pound diving weight strapped to my saddle! At least crashing was fairly painless, oh wait, that wasn't me, that was Al *snort*. :p I doubt that studs would have worked any better either. And what happens when your walking too much? Your cleats get packed with snow and you can't clip in *tapping head*, I know I have a pair of Flat Boy pedals somewhere.

At least we caught up with you at Doolittles!!!

I didn't really "crash," per say, but I did make a beautiful, though unintentional, snow angel on the side of the trail before the first set of rock gardens. Did you see it? :D

Between hiking the trail for 1.5 hours with snowshoes to try and pack down the snow more, and then riding it in the snow for nearly 2 hours, using 25 times the energy to go 50 slower than I normally ride, had me S-O-R-E, sore. Thankfully I have friends with hot tubs and massage skills!

Let's do that again!!!!

Hmmmm I could of swore that "slap it off" was the phrase running through my mind FOR LIKE TWO HOURS AT ROCK LAKE!!! I have no problem with him coming on the ride :) the more the merrier! Besides, Al has followed me on more then one occasion as a 'stalker'. I can lead the ride out of the Bloomington Ferry trailhead, but...and here's the thing, it will be ZERO that day and with a wind chill. That is some serious cold weather. I rode the river last weekend and the trail is packed in pretty good, there was a stiff wind blowing and it was 14 degrees making for a very cold ride. We did cross 9-mile and rode the whole thing, so cutting the ride off at the creek is also an option. It took us about 3 hours and 45 minutes to ride it, so staying warm at 14 versus zero, I don't have riding experience in that sort of cold to call this thing.

Anybody else want to ride or will this be too cold?

Your not getting off that easy. Lutsen is showing a high of zero on Saturday too with a low of -12. Bring lots of warm clothes as the lake tends to make things a little colder too. But the good news is Lutsen shows 7" of new snow in the last 24 hours so I guess take the good with the bad. At this point I'll take snow as my wintertime activities have been basically non-existent and that sucks!!!

My skis are way too clean and I think they are starting to talk to me........is that weird??? :confused:
