so it was my first time at hillside this weekend, and i must say i had a good time. the layout is super great an equal amount of climing and downhills, it is missing those great rock gardens we see at Leb. and Theo, so i really hope MORC gets out there and maintains it regularly so more people go to it. we really need a good trail in these areas.

Thanks for posting the good words, Omar (http://www.morcmtb.org/forums/). Hillside does need some more riders. The ones not getting out there are really missing out. The City does want to get some more stuff out there, so watch for this coming summer maybe.

Is morc going to get more involved with trail work?I think everyone is getting very frustrated with the lack of trial work from the Blast organization. There are plenty of volunteers, we just need to get organized. Is Blast even around anymore?

So, your getting frustrated at an organization that is fully volunteer? I just can't fathom the obscurity of that statement.
If your so frustrated, create your own chapter and go out there and make Hillside what you want it to be!!!!
Or better yet, be a 1 man wrecking crew and do it all yourself. Then you won't be disapointed in anyone. Just don't get mad when some jerk comes on these boards and critisizes you for "dumbing down" the trail.

BLAST is still around and they are now a chapter of MORC. The only reason they haven't done much out there recently, is that they also maintain several other trails. Sometimes their time gets concentrated on large projects elswhere. They only have a couple of guys to do all the work. I'm pretty sure that they have some plans for next spring/summer. They will keep us all posted here so that we will know when to be there to help. And I'll keep track of everyone who 'says' they'll be there to help and see how many can actually make when it's time to roll.:D

Let me put it to you this way.I have spent countless hours clearing trees from Hillside with no support from Blast. And the tornado this summer, Oh Boy that was loads of fun let me tell ya BIG BIG TREES BIG BIG OAK TREES.One would think with a storm of that magnitude Blast would at least show up ,not. And how about clearing those nasty thorns from the trail ,the ones that require medical attention if your not carefull.Yup that was me sweating my balls off eating dirt and mesquitois trying to keep the trail open with my weed eater that I purchased just for that reason.Dont get me wrong I appreciate everything Blast has done But when the trail is at risk for being closed because of erosion its time to get serious about who is exactly in charge of upkeep and what can WE do to prevent this.

Joel, Good Job cutting the trees and clearing the trails. I only rode there once this summer. It was after the storm and I did notice a lot of BIG trees had been cleared and the weed wacking. Looked like LOTS of fun! Too bad about your balls though...
Next time you feel like you need a hand, post up here and see if you don't get some takers. It's always been good to meet fellow bikers at these work sessions. Ken

Joel, thanks for trail work. If you think about it next time, post that you are going in advance. I can probably help.
I thought the parking fee at Hillside was going into the trail itself?...
