I wanted to see if I could make V brakes work with the Potts mod on the stem, but I couldn't find any spare V brakes. I think I need to look harder. The gearing also needs some fine tuning. 48/14 is too hard for this kind of byke. 38 sounds better.

Nice! My old BMX bike ran a 47-14. It was a crazy bike to race with!

This is a 24 and the current cranks are only 165s. 180s would make this tall gear more tolerable.

Indeed. I ran 185's...:D

I juat put 175s and a 42 on it and it's so much better. It's a decent cruising the city gear, I'll have to see how it works on dirt. I also found some V brakes, but no noodles. :(

24's rock. John Lundell might close this thread because it's about singlespeeds. But don't worry, I will just open it back up again if he does.....:D

Now that I've tooled around on this beater, my appetite is for a nicer 24. But I said I was going to get a 29 after I got a 24...

I think it will eventually have a White Industries ENO hub on it. I basically got lucky with the gearing and not using a tensioner.

She's born in '83, but got her fatties in the '90s. The front is a slimmer Onza rail and the rear is a Specialized More Extreme 2.5. The rear wheel is a sealed Suntour XC from somewhere in the mid '80s. It's geared at 32x14 for fast pumping. Stopping is provided by standard issue Dia Compe 890s.
Yeah she's been through a lot already, but who wouldn't want a fattie named Kuwahara.
