Sometime today, 11-25, some individual took it upon themselves to reroute the trail. I rode the trail last night on a night lap, and it was fine. First off, you don't block a semi-blind descent with big logs and huge tree stumps. You rerouted the trail onto an old eroded dirt bike trail. WHY?? News flash, in the summer, the brush and weeds are so thick on this old dirt bike trail, you don't even see the trail. Only in the winter do you see this old eroded trail. Why would you block the existing trail, and reroute the trail onto this old eroded trail. You baffle me. Well, congratulations, I was flying down this descent, yes, probably too fast, and I had an epic crash into your little barricade of logs and tree stumps. My bikes not working so great either. So thanks for being a complete idiot! I'm sure the person who did this reroute doesn't read the MORC forum, but just in case! DON"T EVER REROUTE THIS TRAIL AGAIN, and DON'T EVER BARRICADE A DESCENT ON THIS TRAIL. VERY VERY DANGEROUS!! I'm a big, tall clydesdale Estonian, and usually in a great mood, but you are on my list, whomever you are! And you even used the signs I put up. Very brash and rude. I hope nobody was epic lost today, because of this reroute. Yes, I sound a bit harsh right now, you would to, if you crashed like I did over your idiotic barricade on a descent! So please, just don't do any more of your handy work!:fool: The trail is back to normal, and signed properly!

I should mention, its perfectly okay to ride any of the trails at Camp Manitou. To whomever rerouted the trail, if you want to ride some old eroded dirt bike trail, cool, be my guest. Just don't reroute the mountain bike trail onto one of these trails, and don't re-sign the the mountain bike trail. Dude, if you want to ride those trails its all good. Go for it. Just don't barricade trails, any trails. That includes any trails at Camp Manitou.

I had something similar like that happen to me on a beloved trail in another State and am totally on your side. I don't think you were harsh enough

Sorry to hear about that bro! I'll have to call you tonight and get the whole story. The world is full of idiots. Could have actually been non-bikers messing with the trail. Who knows?

I got your back on this one Buck!

You do? What did I do?

sucks man, over on MTBR/NSMB you can read nightmare stories of other trail users putting up strings at neck level, spiking jump landing, cutting supports to structures...etc...etc...

I find it rather disturbing myself. Glad your alright, thanks for getting the trail back on track too!!!

sry to hear about ur misshap on the trail, they make these camera that you put on trees that are camofloge (deer cameras)... work good to find out who your perp is...

I think a follow up is in order pertaining to my initial post about the reroute at Camp Manitou. I initially thought this reroute was some renegade, rogue trail builder, changing the trail. I have since found out that BLAST is rerouting onto this trail to bypass a problem area/ low spot on the trail, that is sometimes very wet, in rainy seasons. If the reroute works out, they are planning to clear it and work out the rough sections of this trail. I'm basically guilty of being overly protective of the trail. BLAST has been more then gracious the past few seasons, allowing me to work on their trail! I would like to offer an apology to BLAST and the MORC viewers for my over reaction on this matter! Thanks! Paul Lieske:)

Does this mean I'm not going to get to axe anyone? 'Cause that would put a bummer on my entire morning. . .

Glad to hear the idiots haven't made it up your way yet.

Glad to hear that it was not renegades. Still, it does remind us two things:

1: Riders (especially at Leb): Be aware that the trail may have changed since you last rode it.
2: Builders: Try to follow IMBA recommendations for flow transition and blind corners/obstacles.

Paul, I hope that you don't have any bad injuries. Thanks for all the work you've done keeping it rideable. Thanks also to Blast for their continued work on these trails.

I'm fine Bob, thanks for asking. I hit some frost when I tried to turn, and slid into the branches.

He was building the stand before deer hunting season. Camp Manitou is closed during deer hunting season for safety. The park is posted for No Hunting, but some hunters poach in during the deer hunting season, which is two weekends in the Monti area. I just remember he was so surprised that it was a bike trail. He was wondering why I was biking on deer trails!! :D

First thanks for everything you have done on the trails, I dont think we would even be out at Monti lookin at the reroutes if it wasnt for all the work you did there this year. Second Bobs comments are well taken. How about I let you know later this week about going out and taking another look at that section. and Mara, please leave your axe at home!!
