View Full Version : Leb Annual Turkey Day Ride 11/23 @ 9am & 10:30am

We should discuss our yearly Thanksgiving day ride... one quick lap or two between putting the Turkey in the oven and starting the holiday caloric intake.

Start talking to the significant other... tell em' its a much needed sanity break before the in-laws arrive.

We'll figure out a time that seems most flexible for people. Probably around 10am-ish?

I'm in.

I'll be driving to Michigan for a ski trip that afternoon, but can always squeeze in time for biking, especially mountain biking in this weird daylight thing.

Wow, usually it's only the turkeys who have that problem this time of year -- ouch! ;)

Looks like the only way I'll be able to ride will be to go really early, like 8:30am.

Word is the Pugsley's might make an appearance at the Turkey ride.... plan on a slower lap.

I posted up 9am in hopes that works for everyone. Not too early, not too late.

9 am!? seriously?

seriously.

gopherhockey

10? If people are coming from far thats cool. Some wanted to go out earlier. We can do laps as necessary to accommodate.

My single speed should be completed by then. Turkey day would be a great time to break the old girl in. So I am in tentatively.

Was digging up old posts and found last years T-Giving day ride. Looks like it was around 11 degrees for the ride last year. I think it was only about weeks later that we got our first major snow and the regular night rides fell apart.

This year looks to be on the warmer side. I'm betting we'll barely have a white Christmas.

Weather looks good for this Thursday, so it should be a perfect morning ride!

Here was last years post:

I have to be back early. So, I'm going to be there (riding) at 9am, and only doing one lap. I'm going to either ride the pugsley or the single speed, so it won't be a very fast pace.

I'll spare you my opinion on Thanksgiving, but I will not be having any sort of traditional dinner and would LOVE pumpkin pie.

gopherhockey

We haven't yet picked a solid time for this.

I suspect there might be an early lap and another later lap.

Perhaps 9am and 10:30 would accomodate everyone?

wildkona
11-20-2006, 10:28 AM
Sounds good I can probably do both. Who's bringing the Turkey?

mara

ot--where are you finding snow in da up [i assume]??

Maybe not. Ironwood got a good dumping a few weeks ago, but it all went away.

We received 2-3 inches of snow a few days ago. It is not "skiable" by ABR's defintion of safe and fun skiing; we are not open ...yet. The ground is frozen and it won't take much more snow to re open us for the season. Stay in tune.

Unless something changes, I'll be in town and hitting people up to ride themselves silly this weekend. I almost hope the trip gets cancelled -- this kind of weather in late November is a gift I don't want to pass up.

Holidays with the family, it is always a special time.

Eat tons of turkey and other sugary goods then take a long nap in front of the tube watching mindless junk bitching about how cold it is outside.

This year I'm bringing the bike:D

im not really making 500.

see, pumpkin pie is my favorite. and I could eat it all day long. and i like to bake -- so sue me. So when i bake, boy do i bake. plus my birthday is coming up so I make sure to bake a pie that i can chow down on on the bday -- its my gift to myself :). i make way more than i need to. I usually make a pie for all of my extended family, aunts, uncles, grandmas and grandpas. its just how i roll. so tonight through wednesday I will be making pies, and either eating them, saving them for turkey day, delivering them to those who i think deserve them, or freezing them.

and i personally think all your MORCers deserve a nice slice of the glorious home made pumpkin pie -- unless you are josh, then you just deserve a whole pie ;).

It looks as if I've got the all clear for this one, so I'm in. I'm going to try to make it by 9, but I'm usually late, so it will more likely be 10:30.

And being that Bob will be rolling on the Pugsley for a slow lap. I think I'll bring the hardtail this time for one last slow ride before she goes back in the house for a long winters nap.

See y'all there.

There are groups heading out at 9am and 10:30am.

I'm doing the 9am, and trying out the Pugsley. So, the pace will be nice and slow. We'll try to take off right at 9, and will be back in time for anyone who wants to do another lap with the later group.

You are welcome to try mine before the 9am ride, but it is a 22" frame, so you'll have to either be tall or plan to not procreate. Let me know if you'd like me to show up early. I have to leave immediately after the ride.
