Saturday's Milaca ride was great and worth the long drive, so anybody up for another north of town ride? This time at Monticello. Thanks to Paul's hard work, this trail is in great shape. It's a 10+ mile loop of mostly single track. Very pretty. (Weather permitting of course.)

I should be in for this one. The earlier starting time should be darn chilly, but I'll be home in plenty of time to geek out and kick people in the head. What a great Saturday!

Is Camp Manitou open or is it still deer hunting season?

I just re-checked the DNR website and deer saeson ended in that area on November 12th. I also checked the weather and it looks like a high of 40 and sunny. Temp should be around 30 at 10:00.
Can't wait.

Hey there Dirt Boss bro, you need to check the official Camp Manitou Forum in the Twin Cities Metro Area Trail section, and then you would know the dates when Camp Manitou is closed for hunting! (ha ha ha).

Here is a map to camp Manitou. Remember that the turn off of hwy. 25 is called Chelsea now.

Can someone post up more specific directions please. Like how to get there if I am going West on 94?

Also, where are we meeting exactly?

If people want, I can meet people somewhere right off the freeway like McDonalds at like 9:45 am and I can show people the rest of the way. By the way, how many people are going?

The map is very good except for the turn off of hwy. 25 is called Chelsea which is not shown on the map.
Here are directions:
I 94 west
Hwy 25 west at Monticello
Right at Chelsea
Left on 90th st NE
Right on Briarwood
Camp entrance is on the right side of the road

Here's some written directions, if you are coming from the Twin Cities, on 94.
Travelling west on 94, take the second exit off of 94 into Monticello. The exit is for North Hwy 25. Exit 94 on the Hwy 25 exit, and take a right, north on Hwy 25. Travel north on 25 for about 5 blocks. Turn left on Broadway/Cty Rd. 75. The Broadway/Cty Rd. 75 is a major stoplight intersection. Drive about 7 blocks west on Broadway/75. Turn left on Elm St./Cty Rd. 39. You'll be on Elm Street for 3 blocks, and then you turn right, and you are on cty rd. 39. You'll see signs for cty rd 39 on Broadway. Also, you will see signs for going to Maria State Park. Cty rd 39 also goes to Maria State Park, so if you see Maria State Park signs on Broadway in Monticello, follow those signs also! You will travel about a mile or 2 miles west on 39. When you see Briarwood Avenue, take a left, and travel about a half mile south. You will see the Camp Manitou driveway on the left side of the road. You go under a Camp Manitou sign, which is over the driveway. Drive about a half block down the gravel road, and park by the bulletin board that is on the left.
---Most people go to Camp Manitou the way Bob describes, but I find going through downtown Monticello, and taking a left on Broadway is a very easy way to find the trail. Both routes can also be viewed on the map that Bob has posted!

I may or may not be there tomorrow. I haven't been sleeping to well lately so there is a chance I might not make it up in time to get to the ride...if I'm not there at 10am don't wait for me.

That was a fun, fun ride. I especially loved the tight and twisty up and down the hills. :D Thanks Sam and Paul for leading a great "fun group" ride.

I enjoyed this ride. It's amazing how many good trails there are out there. All with their different reasons for being good. I was a bit cold, but enjoyed the ride a lot.
