i am going to try to get into some road biking and therefore need a road bike. but only have about 500$ to 750$ to spend. i found what i think is a pretty good deal on a bike a bikesdirect.com. but i have never bought a bike over the computer and so i am a little hesitant. was wondering if anyone has any advice, recommendations, ect. about doing so!

If having a used bike doesn't bother you, try looking at craigslist for one that you can test ride locally. It looks like they have some pretty good deals on them there, though.

Did you check The Hub on Minnehaha? Sometimes they have some pretty cool used bikes in back.
And, if you search BikeForums for "Bikesdirect" you'll find tons of info on ordering a bike from said site.

How tall are you? Check with Hollywood Cycles, I think he's got a couple nice Bianchis for that price range.

You might be able to do something with it that's in your price range.
