Good topic of discussion...

River Bottoms is prime... Many obstacles, b-lines (Black Dog bypass) and challange sections thanks to open water or the potential for it... Not sure when the 9 mile raft will be pulled, last year it was around Thanksgiving... There is more than one way around and you don't have to get cheated, just beatdown...

Wirth will be open I believe again this winter because it is what it is...

With more zamboni's (aka pugsleys) there is the potential to keep other trails open too as long as it's legit...

I'm sure my Sisters might try and get to Mamooth on there zamboni's on a regular basis... Will see what happens it all depends on snow and how quickly it falls... The quicker it falls the longer it will take to get a trail groomed for anything but the zamboni's...

Team Ricoh will be riding all winter, in fact (minus Magic) the worse the conditions the more we ride as our pack... It's all about the point collection... Magic, don't forget your quota this winter...

You didn't mention sticking around... Your sisters know your game... You ain't Magic because of card tricks... HA!

But you did claim the point on Stoenhenge that one January day when you "appeared" at Lebanon halfway into the ride when The Henge was blown from chasing me around... Then you proceeded to work your game... Classic Point!!!

Warning- As you know Ricoh has memories like elephants and The Henge will be looking to take back that point... But you know the game...

Over?

Yea, I see Stoen lurking here today. I'll take more points from him this winter and this time it will be from the start of the ride.:crazy2:

Like the other posts said,

Leb, Salem, River Bottoms, Theo are all open. Plus, there are chilli chili ice races, downhill ski races and plenty of other stuff.

We will be doing group rides all winter. Plus, if we ever get some real snow, we'll do group night XC skiing and snowshoeing.

Battle Creek is open until there is enough snow to start grooming the XC ski trails.

A small group of Red Wingians are going to try and keep a rideable trail this winter on Memorial. None of us have Zampuglseys so I think our plan will fall through. Also, most of us cross-country ski a bit, so I'll at least probably focus more on that.

Last year I went out a couple of times after the December thaw destroyed the snow cover (and the groomed trails on the hillside/top of the bluff) and it was fun, if not vomit-inducing. Climbing up from the golf course, on patches of 6 inch snow when you aren't in good climbing shape = lots of fun.

Hopefully the new 2.5" WTB 29er tires will work better in the snow than the smaller Bontys I was using.

Another possibility is the Panaracer Rampage 2.35, which exists, but nobody can get them. I think they will have bigger knobs than the WTBs.

on the mtbr.com 29er forum, rumour has it the new wtb will be an excellent snow tire. should be available this month.

the kenda nevegals are kinda disapointing. not any bigger than the exi. nice knobs but a ruff ride.

they will. the wtb's are "lt" which is "low tread".

Winter riding is GOOD TIMES!

I've found the river bottoms is key in the winter. Also check the snowmobile trail that starts in Shakopee (and runs down to Jordan.)

As others have mentioned, Leb will be open all winter once again.

PLEASE do not bomb through the ski trail intersections! The skiiers have the right of way, and even just one incident will close the trail to us for good in the winter. We will put up stop signs at every crossing. Please don't get in the habbit of racing through these intersections like we do in the summertime. (which we really shouldn't be doing either..)

Also, we really worked hard last year to keep the trails packed down. A few of us spent hours and hours out there snowshoeing to pack it down. If we need the help, we'll post up... there is nothing like a night snowshoe stomp! There were times we could not keep up last year and had to lose the XX briefly, as well as part of the X at one point. Pugsleys will help, but if you have shoes get em' ready to come out and help.

I saw that thread yesterday... the pictures of the tire look to be wonderful for the snow. I'm hoping hoping hoping that my bike will take one in both the front and the rear for winter adventures. It's going to be close.

I've got a Waltworks that I picked up two years ago when the thought of more than 3 tire choices was a pipe dream (and his frames weren't much more expensive than a Monkey). Current setup is a rigid walt fork and ENO hub. I know my fork has the clearance for the big meats, but I have a feeling I'll be using a Nevegal or Exi in the rear.

Is it wrong that the little devil on my shoulder doesn't want the tire to fit so I can try and justify another bike? Will a Monkey fit the WWLT in the back?

Why won't it snow/freeze already!??

nice bike the ww. my fisher was the same way. barely enough room for the exi. the new niner has room for the 2.5 wtb, or so i've heard.

exi rear and ww front won't be too bad.

you'll want to come up here and ride next summer. we've bot some fun trails.
