Different time, same place. Meet in parking lot, the train leaves at 6:30pm sharp... this is the earliest we will post this ride so people can get here after work but that we still have plenty of time post ride.

Post up if you plan to be there so we can watch for ya.

So then even if I could ride, you're saying I'm not invited to ride with you all because of my standing in the state series way back when. I'm taking my tubes and going home then.:p

"this year" was included in my statement... so yes, if in 2006 you were a hotshot in the state series you are no longer invited. ;)

Ok, maybe we could make an exception just this once.. :D

Let me guess, the end of November your Winter Hocky league starts so you won't be able to make it again.

I'm starting to think you are looking for excuses ;)

And miss a chance to ride with you, come on now. And winter league starts next Thursday night. I might try and make it to one of the Tuesday night rides here in the next couple of weeks. So maybe you'll see me and maybe you won't. If I need an excuse, that is where my kids would come in!

Also, this provides the perfect excuse for me to annoy everyone with how amused I am at myself for making constant "I got candy in my van, kids!" wisecracks.

High of 35, low of 15... my guess is the ride will be near 20. In some ways I like when its either cold cold or warm warm. The in-between temps can be so hard to figure out. :p

There, thats my attempt at being positive about the temps... ;)

Would be fun if we had some snow during the ride.

Plus, I'm sure a "slapped" face hurts in the cold and that would give him another excuse:D

Of course I'm one to talk.....

Maura, hope you got your car ok. Roger (Doger), you are a rock star for helping her out!

Good ride, everyone. Roger, thanks for helping out Maura.

I'm seeing a two-group trend. The fast group pace was exactly wrong for me. If they had just ridden a little bit faster, I would have gotten dropped, and ended up with the fun group. Then, I could have gotten them to stick around to eat halloween candy and drink bee^h^h^h water.

11-03-2006, 09:43 AM
It was really cool to see MORE people show up last night than less... I was thinking due to the cold we'd have a pretty small group. Instead we had 15 or so.

Minnesota mountain bikers rule! No way we're letting the weather keep us down.

I also hear there might be a group of women looking to build up studded tires for winter riding. Too cool!

duh.

It took me two weeks riding a rigid to realize that it doesn't work for me. Adding a springy fork to the single speed was the difference between it being fun and me getting rid of it.

IMO, setting up your bike for looks rather than functionality is a bad idea. We each set up our bikes the way that works best for us. If you are willing to sacrifice the weight, efficiency and complexity for gears, then you go with gears. If you like the lightness and snappy response of a rigid, then you do it. If you like never having to shift when the terrain changes, and like the drive train efficiency, then you get a single speed. It's all about tradeoffs.

And last but not least thank you to everyone else for putting up with me after I lost my Key. Sorry I'm so late at getting to the Thank you's...have been busy this morning.
