That's why when I'm going big, I keep it to 20' of air or less.

So what did this guy do wrong that caused it to end so badly?

Jumping gurus, please critique his form for the benefit of the landlocked dregs.

1. He should find a new wheelbuilder. Because the spokes blew out in the front wheel and that's why he crashed. The wheel failed basically.

2. He was an idiot and was going WAY to fast. Even if the wheel didn't go, he would have been in trouble by the looks of the trail...no run out.

When going that big he should have landed rear tire first. By the looks of it he landed both tires at the same time which puts undue stress on the front tire. Give the guy credit I bet he jumped farther than anyone else on that jump. LOL.

All it would take is a touch of the front brake, considering the landing position. As stated before, it would have been better if the rear had touched just before the front. Also, if there had been a slight depression or obstacle at the point of front wheel touchdown the compression might have caused the center of gravity to quickly change from neutral to front, vaulting the rider. Stop action the video and the time of point of impact to vault is very, very short.

I don't care what he did wrong that was one hell of a jump and you gotta give the guy credit just for trying it.

I think he landed it perfectly. He had lots of control and the angle was perfect when he landed. Probably a good rider. His wheel mechanic, on the other hand, needs to be fired.

It's a good idea to keep your bike parts in good shape, especially if you like to go big. Also, ride on parts designed to handle what you do on your bike. There I go again.....telling people how to live their lives.......:D

Man that still is making me squirm.

If I wake up screaming in the middle of the night I'll have you to blame.

to me it looks as though his wheel is okay, he just lost the front tire. Anybody else see that, the resolution isn't that high so it's hard to tell, but the rim seems to be close to straight with the tire hanging off.

ok looking at the larger version his front wheel is bad, did the rim actually break too?

The spokes all look pretty much detensioned.

Looks like another wheel failure to me. In the late 80's, BMX tricks started going beyond what the bikes could handle. Now stuff is going even bigger and yeah....I kind of see that same problem. Bring back the Tuff Wheel!!!!....:laugh:

I'll take the Z-rims, you know you can just put them in the freezer and they will bend back.;)

I've been dropping hints about making disc brake mounts for the 24" ones.
