I really do like the sound of this. Could you drag it up north around the duluth area... say hartley? Alot of mountainbike trails were takein over by hikers, and they just happened to be the best trails we could ride.

which trails are you saying the hikers took?? in hartley we lost maybe 50-100 yds of trail that nobody but me rode. it really went nowhere.

by the way, i live in duluth.

Really? this is nice to know, might be hearing from me more often then! I heard through word of mouth that they striped allot of trails out of there, I haven't been up there for about a month now thow... so its kinda hard to say... maybe i was riding on hiking trails...

How would you go about getting a trail recognized? Or if its an "illegal trail" then what would you do?

How would you go about getting a trail recognized? Or if its an "illegal trail" then what would you do?

in the city of duluth and for trails on/in city parks, you need to--

1] present a proposal to the trails committee w/ all info/maps/etc.

2] if passed by that committe you then give same proposal to parks and rec board.

3] if approved in 1 & 2, your proposal would then go to the city council where you might need to give a presentation.

no group other than the sht has ever gone past step 1. no group has ever started step 1.

the same process applies to new trail projects or trying to make and exsisting "illegal" trail legal [like the "freerider" trail out below spirit...]

Yaeh I have been getting those since like May, I ran into them out on the trails one day scoutin' a possible film location for trials stuff along the creek at the base of spirit mtn.

We should get them some Trail Solution books.

What's the mood of the Duluth Parks & Rec Commission towards mountain bikes? It doesn't sound like a difficult process. I wonder why only SHT's gone the distance.
