Hey Nicole, sorry you missed Bob's group ride last Sunday:cryin: But, you did finally find the trail, so that's cool! Glad you had a good ride. Basically, if you get turned around, just keep an eye out for white arrow markers. Once you see one of them, they will lead you out. When you get near the end of the trail, the trail will come out at an amphitheatre by the lake, turn left at the amphitheatre (towards the lake), and then turn right when you see the lake, and go down the road for about a couple of blocks, and that will lead you back to the parking lot!

The Trail starts out at the front of the west (Main) entrance of Camp Manitou, and travels North for about a half mile, then you turn right (east), and cross a field on a field road, and then you go back into the pines. Sometimes people don't realize the trail starts right at the entrance. I have it marked, but its still easy to miss.

There might be a ride this weekend (?) so I might try to meet up. I did find the start of the trail pretty easily and the arrows were great....I'm not sure what section it was where I might have come to a three-way area and took the wrong turn and ended up going in a circle. I know I got through at least 6 miles following the arrows. I can bring a camera if I end up at a group ride so you guys have some photos.

I'm going to be passing by Monticello this Wednesday and plan on riding at Manitou for the first time. Sounds like it's pretty well signed and I should be able to find my way around, but is anyone familiar with the trail up for ride & guide about 2:00 or 3:00?

I can't make it. Maybe Paul can. Anyhow, the trail starts just as you enter the camp. You will see a grove of trees to the left. Just follow the black arrows. It's pretty easy to get off course.
BTW...I didn't have a group ride this weekend.

Camp Manitou will be closed Nov. 4 through Nov. 12 during deer hunting season. Camp Manitou does not allow hunting, but hunters do poach in and hunt the Camp, mainly on the North, and North/East side. The Camp Manager feels its safer just to close the park during this time. After Nov. 12, use a little common sense when riding at Manitou. For instance, if Lebanon is closed due to freeze/thaw conditions, then riders should also not ride Camp Manitou. Just use common sense, and don't ride the trail if the ground is soft due to freeze/thaw conditions. ;)
